Default What else do I need for my cam swap?

So far I have:

Parts:

Cam
Springs
Pushrods
Timing Chain
LS6 Oil Pump

Need:
Water Pump Gaskets

Tools:

Spring Compressor
Rods to hold up the cam
Balancer installation tool

I believe that's it. If anyone knows otherwise, let me know. I want to have everything sitting here ready when I tear into this thing.

Just for right now, I am going with a used TR224 until I can buy a complete heads/cam combo. I didn't want to have to pull my heads to change lifters for use with a really aggressive cam. Not to mention I need a rearend before I buy heads. It should get my car solidly into the low 12's along with the LTs and FAST 78 I'm installing.

Get some engine assembly lube to smear all over the cam, some extra long bolts the same thread size as the 3 that thread into it so can make a "handle" to install the new cam into the engine. Also get some blue loctite for the rocker bolts and some gasket maker.

Good luck man, I look forward to checking out your car at the Power Tour this summer.

I don't see retainers and new valve seals on your list...I think that you need them.

not to hijack, but does the 224 work with stock gears on 6-speeds?

Water pump bolts will thread into the cam to serve as a handle...

I sure hope so. I have one sitting in my C5 and am in the process of buttoning it back up with my new 5.3L heads... The 224 isn't too aggressive for an auto or manual.
