best gears for 1/4 mile a4 I will be getting a 9 inch soon will i be better of with 3.70 gears or could i go with a 3.89 and not shift to od in the 1/4. Car is mostly stock now but will be getting le2 setup this summer hopefully

With 26in slick 3.75 gears should cross the line at about 115 6200 RPM. 28in slick with same gear should go to 129 before it shifts out of third.
I chose 3.75, I dont have it together yet though.

I went with 9" 3:89 gear in my 2002 ss vert A4 car, stock motor & tranny best pass in the 1/4 has been a 12.62 at 111 mph and that is with 26" m/t street radials.

depend what rpm your at when u pass the trap. if u have low rpm u want more gear or a shorter tire. street cars i'd say 373 but 342 are nice because u can swap a rear from an m6 car for cheap.
