Default Stat comp vs. dyn com vs. cam specs?

I am going to build a 383 now for my 02 Z06 that my motor has three bad holes. I need to know what my static compression ratio is going to be with the following parts, and what size cam I am going to need to run to bring the dynamic compression ratio down to 8.6-7:1. I want this to be a bad azz daily driver slash street racer. I figured somthing in the high 230 to mid 240's at .050 would be a good cam.

Mod list.

AFR 205's 59cc
Eagle forged rotating assembly -2cc, 6.125, 4.00, 3.905
.40-.54 commetic head gasket? That is the real question. Which one?
LS6 intake and ported TB
ASP UD
Dynomaxx LT's
Borla cat back

I want to make close to 500rw if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Brett

I have a 236/230 plugged in and the DCR is over 9. You could take a cam similar in size and retard it unpon install to bring the DCR down some and it will help the it to keep breathing up top longer. I would try to stick with a .045 or .040 gasket to keep a tighter quench area. I would also not go with anything smaller than a 236 sized cam since you have the 383 CI.

I also would not be running an LS6 intake and stock TB on it, you want 500HP easily you better get a FAST 90/90.

Thanks for the link. It looks like I am going to be on the edge even with a large cam. I will post up the results that I cam up with when I have a minute.

You could also just go with the larger chambered AFR's and either mill them to acheive the results you want or adjust the cam timing. Besides with 59cc heads and a large cam your PTVC is going to become an issue. I would just go with the larger chamber heads.

I am doing this on a shoe string budget right now. That is why there is no fast 90/90. I am kind of stuck with what I got. One of the options right now is a -7cc dish instead of the -2cc dish. I am not sure I want to run a cam as large as the 244/248 114+4 that it was going to take with the -2cc dish and a .054 gasket. I could also run that cam with 0 or +2 advance and knock the DCR down some more. I think I can get away with a 238/242 or so cam with a -7cc and .040 gasket. I am going to do a little more research and and post up all the specs and results and get some opinions from the forum members.

2 advance will bring DCR up, you want 2 retard to bring DCR. I would still look into the larger AFR chamberd heads.

Thats what I meant. Going from a 114+4 to +2 or 0 lowered the DCR. So like you said retarding.
