Question WS6 vs GTO?

this may be a stupid question, but i've heard mixed reports. which one is faster, a WS6 or an LS2 GTO? i'd say the GTO. maybe the people i was talking to just need to get educated, but they said the WS6 is faster. also i think the T/As weigh in around 200 lbs less than a GTO. anyone here know for sure? any personal experience?

If your racing the 04 GTO, then the T/A is faster. Since the question was about the LS2 GTO then I'd give it to the GTO. My friend ran 12.9 with his 06 M6 GTO. I guess it all comes down to driver.

WS6 hands down. I hit 12.94 bone stock with my 02, I've seen a couple LS2 GTO's in that range but they aren't the norm. I Normally see them in the 13.3-13.5 range. If the GTO was lighter it would be the faster car easily.

I'd say an '02 WS6 would be faster than the '05-'06 GTO, but a LS2 GTO would be faster than a '98 WS6.

If my car was back to stock I wouldnt be afraid of an LS2 GTO. My WS6 was one of them that ran 12s stock.

LS2 GTO on the highway no doubt.

From a dig its more of a drivers race, GTOs having a IRS and skinny tires makes it a real bitch to get a decent launch.

and yea...just a little personal experience

PFFF! LT1 > ALL c'mon lol (I'm kidding, so extinguish your flames!)

Why not an LS2 in a WS6?!

The LS2 Goat will pull your LS1 TA on the highway and will trap a higher mile per hour.

For some reason imo people place too much stock in E.T around here...

I agree ET is a sketchy way to determine performance since it is determined mostly in the first 60 FT. But I do think acceleration is a good test and the later LS1 F-bodies out acclerate the GTO to around 100MPH or so with 75 less HP (granted they weigh about 350 pounds less). Personally I am not really concerned if a car is faster from 80+ MPH, it just doesn't interest me. just my $.02. To me it is like saying "My car is faster downhill with a tialwind in the rain" You can set parameters to which either car is going to have an advantage but the typical benchmarks are 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile times. All of which an 01-02 WS6 has an advantage.

from what I understand the IRS on the GTO makes launching kinda hard, so from a dig, I say the WS6 would win
