SS4000 + S10 = Too Much?
I got a built LS1 with MS4, hand ported heads etc. I dropping it in my 91 S10 2wd. I have the rear set up so I "should" be getting traction via Ford 8.8"
So I was talking converters at work and everyone said I should not go any higher than 3000 stall for the street. I was leaning toward a SS4000 stall, but is that too much for a little s10?
Maybe a SS3600?

I have an SS3600 in my FULL SIZE with a cam'd 5.3.... you should be able to drive it everyday if you wanted with that converter. its great IMO... pretty tight around town but it still flashes real nice. In something light like an S-10, I wouldnt hesitate to run a 4000

The S10 weighs about the same as an F-Body, and that cam with an SS4000 it a pretty good match. Maybe they think you still have a V6 (or I4) in your S10. Either way, don't listen to them.

What about traction? I had a '87 S10 with a old 355 and 700R4 that ran 13 flat spinning the tires down the track. It had a stock converter but never seen under 3000 rpm during wot because of tire spin. But it had a cam that would idle with a stock converter.

Well, after spending months on a V8s10 forum I think I found a setup that will let me cut some 1.6x's 60ft times.
Alot of guys are having excellent luck with drop leafs, slid-a-links, (or Cal-Traks) plus a sticky tire. So I was going to run 3" drop leafs, slid-a-links, plus 275 MT Streets. With the slid-a-links dialed in, I should be lifting the front end off the ground about 6-10 inches
BTW: This is NOT a dailey driver. It's a dailey drive only when its warm and no chance of rain in the forcast driver...
So it sounds like SS4000 it is.

[QUOTE=8a8mfh][QUOTE=12secSS]The S10 weighs about the same as an F-Body
My '87 S10 weighed 2800 pounds, not stripped down at all.
I'm guessing mine will weigh in at around 3000lbs. My buddy has a weight station at his farm. I will see how much it weights when I'm done.

The Ford 8.8 seems like it weights triple what the 7.5 was.
