Parts needed for head swap?
I just did my cam swap This past weekend and while I had it apart I decided to buy a set of 243 heads to replace my 806's. I have been looking for all the parts I will need for the swap and just want to make sure I am not missing anything.
1. 243 heads
2 GM MLS head gaskets (will the ones for the 2002 work, I only saw graphite for 98-01)
3. New head bolts (should I go with Fel-Pro or GM)
4. Intake Manifold gasket
5. Exhaust gaskets
6. Water pump gaskets.

Definitely get the MLS gaskets...they'll work good and you don't ever have to scrape graphite again.
I would go with GM bolts unless you want to go with the ARP bolts or studs.
I wouldn't think you'd need intake manifold gaskets or valve cover gaskets (I never replaced mine, but they were in good shape too), but I would definitely get the exhaust and water pump gaskets.
Good luck.

just finished my 98
you will need new valve covers( center bolt) get off ebay or here!
new coil brackets get from dealer (be prepared to modify the bolt holes so your coil pack bolts will fit.)
get 2 water pump gaskets
get the arp bolts!! ten trillion times easier than the gm bolts... best way to explain the gm bolts is its like trying to fit a fat girl in spandex!!
arp you can torque and forget em... well worth the extra cash!!
shouldnt have to worry about the intake gaskets.
later aaron

I forgot to put down the valve covers/brackets and I was wondering with that do the center bolts have a different shape for the gasket than the perimiter bolts, because the vavlve cover gaskets I have are brand new, but their for a 98'

just drill them out a little.... the 98 bolts are bigger than the 99-2002 bolts.. or you could just get some bracket bolts for the 2001-2002 coils from a dealer.. when you get them you will see.. its pretty self explanitory.
