Default Where to buy LS1 in So Cal

Do any of you So Cal guys know any good places to begin looking for an LS1? I've done the ebay/cartrader.com/cars.com search - but nothing within 100 miles of San Diego with less than 80,000 miles. I've called my local Chevy dealer and they were going to do a search as well.

But if you know any good places to start, I'm open for suggestions! Thanks!

I would look in TX and Northern CA. Don't be afraid to look outside of your local area (especially Socal), you can usually find the car cheaper.

he has lots of Fbodies, but he is FU@K'N RIP OFF.kinda looks like this guy . He sold me A Lt1 T/a Last year. Car had a check Engine light. He said he would Fix it, then he tryed to do a under the tabble smog, which ment the problem wasnt going to get fixed. A drove the car for 3 days. and the syncros on 1st 4th and reverse went out. he said he would get it fixed. then it turned out the bill was 2,900, he demanded me to pay half. I told him to go fu@k him self, so he never did fixed it. Then I asked him to give me my money back or to fix the car. he only gave me half of the money back saying I had to pay the D.M.V tags, when he sold me a lemon and I wasnt going to keep the car. he kicked me out of his **** hole and I told him next Time I see him was going to be in court and I was going to bring the BBB to check out his lot. sure enough he called me an hour later saying he will pay me back Fu@ken Bastard!. I was told By a neighbor that The same incident happened to them to at that same location.

delar ships in Oceanside are Rip OFFS!

oh I forgot to mentioned that he sold the car two days later. turns out to be I see the car a few miles awayfrom my house and the owner was complaining about how he had a SES,check gauges, car was over heading.....when I took it to auto zone to scan the codes it showed 12 diff. codes
sucks!! he screwed him over.

Tell me exactly what you're looking for (model, color, options, price, etc...) and I'll try to find it... I'm usually pretty good at finding people F-Bodies.

First of all, thanks guys for all your input. I really appreciate it. Yeah, I wasn't going to buy anything in Oceanside, I just did a 100 mile search within my zip code. Last night, I did find a couple cool cars on ebay - but they are in VA. It was a 2002 with a bunch of SLP performance parts (according to the owner, added when he bought it new). It has 45,000 miles and he wants $10,500 for it.

I am looking for a 1999-2001 Camaro or Firebird LS1 M6. I'm not really looking for an SS (although I think they are awesome, I'd rather buy a Z28 cheaper and have more mod $$$). Less than 70,000 miles would be nice. From what I've seen on KBB, a Z28 with 60,000 miles should retail around $11,500.

Hey luis_ws6 is that the smae wolfmotorsinc or branch of them that used to be in oceanside, they had some nice cars down here, best out of this area. Texas is a great place to buy cars all the cars ive ever seen come from there are really nice my z28 and a couple of are caprices were from there, no rust, nothing wrong woth them. Becareful though, i hear they are trying to sell water logged cars from katrina, after a little refurbishment, but they are still POS. Just so you know patricksd shipping on a car from Texas or midwest area to here is about $800, you can get it shipped in a open carrier or closed, either way is good.

Thanks for the info. I did see some nice ones in TX, but I'm a little hesitant because of the hurricanes. $800 isn't bad for shipping. Did you have any problems smogging yours in CA?

I'd love to find a private seller as opposed to a small used car dealer. I'm looking to pay cash, and don't feel like haggling with a used car salesman.

I checked out autotrader. Not much within a 200 mile radius. They seem to be mostly clustered in other parts of the country. Lots of Z28's in TX, South, and Midwest.

I don't doubt there are some in So Cal, just harder to find.

when i lived in oceanside (up until june of last year), i searched long and hard for a LS1 camaro or firebird in decent condition. i could not find ANYTHING for a solid year and a half that wasn't ridiculously overpriced or in $hitty condition. i moved up here to the bay area and they were all over the place. ended up finding this pristine 99 SS vert with 46K miles.

you're going to have to look outside of 200mi if you want anything decent.
