285's on stock rims ok?
Search isn't working.
Can I put 285's instead of 275's on my stock WS6 rims?
Goodyear says minimum rim width is 9.5", Is this measurement taken outside to outside (10" wide measured here), or the inside rim width between the 2 outer rim ears (9" measurement here)?
Thanks,

285s need a 9.5" wheel.
I assume that you're going with Goodyear GSD3s? These also run wide, so I'd definately advise you against the 285...
275/40/17 is that max you can go by the book on a 9" wheel.
The wheel is measured from bead to bead. AKA where the tire seats onto the wheel.

Yes, planning on getting the GS-D3's.
Everyone is out of stock on the 275's, and I thought the 285's would fit.
I've got one answer for and one against, come on people - Is Bad *** TA correct or are there several people out there running the 285's?

There ARE plenty of people who go against manufacturer recommended width.
A 285 GSD3 is going to buldge on a 9" wheel. They have a section with of 11.3"....
CAN you run them and probably be OK? Yeah, lots of people do it. But it's still not right. I'm not one to tell someone it's fine to run a tire, when technically its not right. Shoot me.

Looks like I'll just have to wait for the 275's to become available.
I got a small nail in my front right D3 and I loose about 5 lb's of air a day. I was 300 miles away from home when it happened - luckily I was able to nurse her home (tried to buy tires there - thats when I found out the 275's weren't avalible to be had), I'll just have to park her till I can get the right size tires.
I got almost 30,000 miles out of the last set..
Thanks guys...
