Default S2000 Ls1

I have an s2000 and an LS1 donor car with trans and all the wiring. Who should I talk to about putting it in? I'm in College Station/Austin Texas. Thanks.

Depends where you are located. Go to a local reputable speed shop and ask around.

Should make for one wicked project. Keep us informed!!

I can help if you need some pointers. I'm just south of Austin. Hot Roder by trade but me and the old man put LS's in just about everything. I'm slammed right now with 57 chevys but i can help you get the hard parts done.

awesome project, the rear edges of the sides of the engine bay are spots where it may have to be cut and reinforced to make an LS1 fit but the project would be sick.
I hope you get it done!
good luck man.

You will also have to look at a new rear end. I have heard once of someone trying to fit a Cobra center section under an S2000 but I don't know if they were succesful. The stock rear end will puke the gears with just the addition of a supercharger and sticky tires. The car is awesome to drive even with stock power so it will surely be fun with some real power under the hood.

Howdy,
I'm in College Station, and finishing up a FD RX7 ls1 / t56 swap for someone. My daily driver is a 3rd gen camaro with a ls1 / t56 swap, and i had an el camino with an ls1 swap. LS1's make everything go better.

Give me a shout:

Nope, got too expensive (and a sponsor screwed us over). It's parked in the yard (minus drivetrain) until i figure out what to do with it

bummer, that bubbadrift el camino was a cool idea.

I would love to see you guys finish up an LS1 S2000, now that would be a first and it would be very cool, thats such a nimble chassis and all it needs off the showroom floor is 2 times its stock power

Who else thinks this kid is nothing but a dreamer?

I hope he proves me wrong, but as of now, IMO there's no way he'll go past putting a K&N and exhaust on his S2K.

Well, I personally know this "kid" and he isnt dreaming at all. I have a donor car that has a running LS1 and T56 ready to go. The S2000 has a blown motor and needs to be replaced which is going to cost upwards of 8k to repair. He's getting a running M6 Camaro which includes everything minus the passenger seat which he can then turn around and sell the chasis.

All said and done, we are looking at having to buy a new diff (300zx center section fabbed), custom headers, mounts, driveshaft, electronics.... the list goes on.

A big concern at this point is getting it to fit both width and length. The length comes into play due to a support beam which the water pump drive would hit. It may be solvable with an electric WP, but either way we might need to cut that rail and re-weld it farther forward. The other problem (and probably the largest concern) is the rear edges of the engine bay which someone pointed out earlier. To get the #7&8 primaries to clear might take some cutting and welding because the engine bay narrows towards the firewall. That is a load bearing structure and is part of the chassis, so caution needs to be taken when fabbing that up (unless we can get some headers to fit, which is unlikely).

The tranny (shifter mainly) is almost a perfect fit from the looks of things, but we wont know for sure until we get the engine out.

No clue if the tranny will fit in the tunnel, but I imagine it should.

Another concern is the power steering. S2000s have an electronic power steering system that runs off of the speed sensor which I assume is on the output shaft of the tranny. That may be another big hangup.

As far as gauges go, I would highly doubt that stock will work, so we might just fab up some stand alone.

Any general information that goes with motor conversions would be greatly appreciated. I am very adept with LS1s, but havent done a conversion.

More than likely, we will put a mid size cam in it and shoot for ~350-370 wheel on stock heads which shouldnt be a problem at all.
