launching with stall
How do you typically launch with your stall converter?
I'll be using a SS3600 yank. I know its proabably differnt for each car but I just want to get a good idea of the options available.
Thanks in advance.

I have MT DRs.
I usually roll into prestage, stall up to about 2500, creep into the stage bulbs really shallow, and go WOT after the third yellow. I think I finally have my suspension set-up so I don't get hop or spin. It's really nice to feel that 1.6 60' coming out of the hole.
Good luck!

I have Nittos and I was not able to do a max launch with them. 4000 stall with a 2.6 STR needs some MT's I think. I would launch at 2500 and let the car jump out of the hole then quickly roll into the gas. 1.8 60' isn't much better than I was doing with BFG KDWS's. Good luck and just play around with it till you get it right.

With my Nittos (245's) I would run at 20 psi, do a long burnout, stage asap, stall up just a tad to 1500 rpm's and nail the accelerator on the third yellow. I have dead hooked many times with this method. I have also had success just going off a dead idle to the floor. The key for me was a good burnout to get the tires hot and to be at or near 20 psi in them.
On cooler days and when my Nittos started to get bald I would have to feather into a full throttle.

Good thread, I have just put in a 3200 vig and have new nittos, first experience with new set up is wow feels like a totally different car. Did not have too much luck the other night with hooking up. I tried a couple of techniques off idle 1500 then 2000 and flashing it ( man up in smoke ). In all fairness the track was cold and not prepped, and i have no problem heating the **** out of the nittos. Guess i just have to be patient and wear the tires in and wait for a well prepped track......or just spring for the mt et streets like i was gonna do in the first place as i have read and heard that everyone who has them luvs them and that they hook the best.

The best launch will come from a flash from idle.
However you need the beefiest tires to pull it off.
On the street its generally accepted that brake stalling gives the best launch because it preloads the drivetrain and tires, and won't hit them as hard.

Thanks for the help guys. The SS3600 really hits hard , I'm impressed. Plus its not bad at all driving around town or the highway.
I hope I can relearn to launch this beast or my ET's will suck. The whole point of this mod was to get my ET's in the low 12's.

i like launching it at 2500 rpms. it's easier on the drivetrain and the rear with it being loaded rather than flashing 4000+ rpms at it at once. im shooting for 1.5X's this year

To get the best benefit, you need a trans brake.
