Long Haul equipment advise
I am interested in what are the essentials to pack for the long haul from everyone who has been on the long haul before. Its almost that time so I want to make sure I have everything I need.

Here are some things you don't normally think of:
poncho or rain coat
folding chair
umbrella
ice chest
extra pair of sunglasses
sun block
and then there is the normal:
car cleaning supplies
clothing
first aid kit
documentation (registration, insurance, AAA, etc)
BEER
money
extra parts (belts, wires, fluids, etc...)
camera (extra battery)
I'll add more later as I think of it

Don't forget tools also. You don't need to bring a huge Craftsman chest full of everything you have...but a couple screwdrivers, tire-iron, maybe ratchet/sockets...Most of the time you won't need it but it is good insurance.

the guys are right about help..
I've seen 20+ cars pull over to help a stranded PT memeber..
but always imagine you're on your own and have to fix your junk
by yourself..that way you'll have enough tools/parts to fix most
anything..or to help someone else..a tire plug kit and small 12v air pump are
high on the list..
make your list now and revise it till you leave..
If you have oddball crap that is not normally carried by the standard auto parts place.
invest in a spare one now..
my LT1 had opti issues so I always had a spare one complete..
also a spare elect water pump..just in case..
Hope this helps,
Matt

*Business cards (You'll meet lots of cool people and its easier than finding paper to write contact info.)
*Address Labels (EVERYone is giving something away and its a lot quicker to put down a sticker than fill out the form for every booth.)
Kinda just a personal issue I had but I suggest a backpack. Last year I got tired of carrying around the 9 billion bags of free stuff from vendors so I bought a cheap one at a drug store. It also was great for the camera, video camera, ect plus it wasn't in my way like the bags...

These are some pretty good ideas. One thing I did use for my digital camera, laptop and phone, was a radio shack 12 volt to 110 volt inverter so I could charge things going down the road. Last year I bought a GPS for my laptop from Best Buy for 140 bux that was really nice to help us find things, and it also had a speed reading so I could pass by the troopers at the right speed!
