Default LS7 heads on a 6.0 Iron block

Tried a search.

I assume LS7 heads will bolt onto the 6.0 LS iron block?

no...bore's too small on the 6.0 junk. LS7 needs 4.1" bore minimum.

This block is a 408.

Whats the bore on that?

Not so sure I would call the 6.0 block junk.

Maybe compared to the LSX block....

are you talking about gm ls7 heads or aftermarket? i think factory ls7 has more head bolts than the ls1-2 and 6.0

I'm pretty sure the minimal bore necessary for LS7 heads is 4.060, as in the minimal to make it fit. You'll still have valve shrouding issues with the heads, but it will fit. A 6L block can possibly be taken out to 4.060, but I would have it sonic tested. I'm not sure how long it would last, but it's a mismatched combo to begin with. Extreme bore size and an extremely narrow valve to cylinder wall margin, not a good choice.

Beaflag VonRathburg is correct. Minimum 4.060 bore. Same head bolt pattern . If you get the block tested and it can take then its your choice. There are many L92 heads flowing what LS7 heads do now for the same price.

Not the GM LS7 heads. I have a 416 L92 shortblock and I went with the ETP LS7 heads since they were made for the 4.0 bore. Excellent flow numbers on these heads which are just as good as the GM LS7 if not slightly better. On top of that they use the LS7 intake which comes with 40 lb injectors, outflows a fast 90 and is less expensive.

The heads on the other hand set me back $3300. But I wanted the best so I was willing to pay for it.

Gm's website says a 4.065 minimum.

As far as the l92's take those numbers with a grain of salt, flow numbers do not necessarily equal HP.

Reviving this thread to add a link for those who don't believe that an LS7 head can work on bores smaller than 4.065.

Yeah that's a old one...another one of those thats the reason I did have questions and wanted answer's. Later Eric did the same thing. Also how I knew I needed a smaller exhaust valve.

Good old read for a idea....

My new thing is Runner height from the base of the runner to the deck .... I just need to get a answer from Kissler fuel injection or call Bob or Richard...

The Lsx Dr Is 10 mm higher than the last version of the C5R which = 0.394 inch
I just need to know the height of the c5r and I can figure out the rest. Like a .200 raised runner ls7

ESPECIALLY with the LS7s reputation for having extreme guide wear in low mile engines....

You can do that also or Get a set from a personal chosen porter

Reasons you don't purchase Factory Ls7 heads...
Also one size doesn't fit all otb, I learned and liked matching the MCSA/CSA to the Combination.

i couldn't see spending more money in a
$2700.oo -> $3k+ head

Figured Pro comp being 35 hp off with a undersized head and Lord who knows port program was the way 2 go. Buy as cast and personally pick your porter FTW with a head sized for the Combination....

Spoke with CFE and Katech about the runner height of the c5r head also.
Best idea from the outside looking in and I like cylinder heads is a
Guy could get Brodix heads as Porter casting without seats or as cast and do your Thang.
These probably started off as part number BR7 BS cnc without seats. Hell I can do anything with these. MBE did. I'll take a slight angle mill Porter for $200. Ref game show conversations lol.

🤔 take what Darin's done have it digitalizied with a few minor tweaks of Ovaling the port more. Purchase Brodix heads as close to raw as needed without seats or guides in. Raise the exhaust and intake as wanted, move the exhaust valve. Or buy as cast use the digitalizied port. The Porter can only draw a picture with a blank canvas if the casting has work done you can only go from there. If you got them with No guides in or cut in you can make your own angle. More cost though as your developing a head concept. Reason MBE stayed with the Ls7 design with added features.
