LT1 LS1 body differences
how can you tell a LT1 ta/z28 from an LS1 ta/z28. i know the hoods and head lights and hood are different on the later model z28s, but did they change that in 98? i dont have much clue at all about the ta's. im just curious when i pass a f body as to whether the have an LT1 or LS1

'93-'97 Camaros have the headlights under the hood and the red tails except '97 in which they added the amber turn sigal. In '97 the Camaro's also got the new interior and guages, and daytime running lights standard. The Firbirds also got DRL's standard. Also the Firebird changed the front end in '98 and the tails were switched from red with black blocks to a honeycomb style tail. Also the '93-'96 V6 firbird tails were all red with no black blocks or honeycombs. That's all i can think of off hand

Its so easy, but you wont know if they have an LT1/LS1 exactly, you will get an idea of what they are suppose to have. For instance some people with 93-97 have done an LS1 conversion, engine or front end etc. Really the way to tell is looking at it and by the sound.

If it's a Camaro and the Tail Lights have orange in them, it's a '97 up. If it looks like a Catfish, then it's a '98 up, a LS1.
As far as the TA's go, Most of the WS6's are LS1's but alot of people have been doing the conversions. Someone will be able to clarify their differences a little more than I can.
Then again some people that are older 4th gen cars have LSX Engines. Most of those are just LS1's, most likely with boltons. I am dropping in a cammed 402 just to kick a little bit more ***..

and i realize that no mater what the body style, they could still have an LS1, but in reality, the chances are slim to none

Ok, for the TA's.. if the nose comes to a point, it's a LT1. If the nose is rounded, it's a LS1. WS6's are easy enough to spot. If you happen to notice the front Brake Calipers on both the Camaro and the TA.. the dual-piston is the LS1 Car. V6's also have these Brakes also.
Also, you want an easy improvement in your Brakes, find a wrecked 98 and up car and grab them.
