Default LS1 injectors to LT1

This is just for hypothesis right now.But humor me.

I know this:
LS1 FP is ~58 psi to LT1's 43.
LS1 stock injectors flow #28 lbs at 58 PSI. Less at 43, obviously.
LT1 stockers are right around 24 lbs @ 43 PSI.
Supposing an adjustable FPR were used, and pressure increased to say, 60 PSI, wouldnt the LS1 injectors be a decent upgrade if one wanted to decrease the duty cycle of their injectors?

93's run 22# injectors. If you wanted better ionization, I'm sure the LS1's would do that. Just installing my 24# (around 25.5 since ford uses like 35psi) SVO, which ionize fuel very efficiently, I noticed considerable response time.

As Buff said, you do need to make sure your car is upgraded sufficiently to handle it. If you put them in and left it @ 43psi, I think you'd be fine.

The max I'd run the stock pump @ would be 55psi. Which they'd then flow around 26-27. If you have cam and heads, LTs and good exhaust, I'm sure that'd be fine. I found a site with AFRP for $65 (but that's here in the states).

Thanks for the input fellas. I suppose they are a direct bolt in as well.

Where did you find said FPR at?

A couple of years ago, SLP was running a "special" in the LT-1 section of their catalog, and it was on LS-1 injectors. They said they were fine as a replacement for the OE LT-1 parts. They were selling them for $99 a set. I bought a set but haven't tried them yet, as my OE LT-1s still seem to be OK.

Okay. So whats been said suggest that since the LS1 injectors do like 58psi you would change out your stock fuel pump?

If you looking to get better injectors get Fords...

They are like night and day you actually notice a difference.

1. Upping the fuel pressure won't do anything unless you tune the pcm for it. Otherwise it will just change the fuel trims.

2. Larger injectors will dump fuel unless, again, the pcm is tuned for them.

3. You won't see any hp increase by dumping more fuel even if you're tuned for it, unless you need it. (i.e. cam, heads, nitrous etc.)

In summary, don't upgrade the fuel system unless you have to. Don't use an AFPR as it's garbage. No matter what, get a tune.

I bought a set of those SLP injectors, and decided not to use them. Sold them to by buddy who needed stock injectors. They did not fit very well. No matter what I did, the injector would not seat in the rail of the intake. The slot for the injector clip is in a different position and does not let the injector seat right in the intake or rail. Just my experience. I use 24 lb SVO's. 93 by the way.

^^ that's because IIRC you have to do some minor grinding to extend the groove on the injector to allow the stock clip to fit..

The delphi/lucas injectors as well as the siemens are all a direct fit. You don't need the stock clips.

ls1 and 24lb lt1 injectors are the same size if they are run at the same fuel pressure...

Ugh, I had a bitch of a time getting the 24lb SVO's in my car, which is also a 93. I just took a shot in the dark, doubled up the rubber o-rings on one of the side (or behind the top of the injector, I don't recall now) and then cutting out a new spot for the stock clips. I thought it was going to leak and it scared the heck out of me because I think I had broke one of the old injectors.

Well, it's either after 94K miles my stock 22# injectors were wearing out, or you're wrong. After installing the SVO's I noticed a bit more kick and a fair amount more of throttle response. I didn't have my tune then either.

My 91 was a 350 TPI SD car, and I installed an AFPR on it and cranked it up to around 53-55PSI and it increased my throttle response and power with out a tune. Why would that not do the same for at least the 92-93 LT1s?

they are pretty much a drop in save fitting the clip. No programing needed. I have installed a few sets and IMHO they idled better then the SVO injecters and performance was fine

I'm not sure how the TPI computer calculates and adjusts for the fuel pressure, but what I do know is that if you simply crank up the fuel pressure on the LT1, the computer will simply lower the pulse width on the injector over time which just causes it to spray less. This negates the increase in fuel pressure.

If the SVO's you're talking about were 24# then you probably wouldn't notice it dumping any more fuel. If they were brand new and your stock injectors were dirty, that would help out a lot.

the svos fit just fine even with the clips. the clips go on the top groove of the SVOs.

They were really low mileage ones. I mean not like 100, but only like 25,000. Stock in a 93 is only 22# remember, and the Ford injectors run around 36PSI for 24#, and ours run 43, so that calcs out to around 25.6#. Which I did factor in to my tune. But I promise, there was a noticeable difference in performance, I'm not crazy (mentally at least).
