The front speakers are hooked up to the monsoon amp then or the receiver? The whole thing sounds like there's a short somewhere to me.

Ok, let me get this straight....

You have the Monsoon system hooked up, added the pheonix amp to run the subs (JL). You replaced the front 2 speakers with ones from Wal-Mart.

When you hooked up the front speakers, did you hook them up to the right set of wires? There are 4 there, 2 for the mid woofer and 2 for the tweeter.

Also to me sounds like you might have a short like stated above.

How do you know the headunit goes to 25, do you have an aftermarket one or still the Monsoon?

OK, so you unhooked the front speakers from the Monsoon amp and hooked them up to the Jensen?

so you hooked the speaker output on the radio to the front speakers, and the front speakers are still hooked up to the Monsoon amp?

A diagram is a simple drawing of how your system is layed out.

ok....

You are running the tweeters off the HU and everything else off the Monsoon amp.

Sounds to me you might be over powering the Monsoon amp inputs and it is shutting down, going into protection mode.

It has nothing to do with the speakers. It has to do with the amp. You should think about going with an aftermarket amp.
