Default Cam Only Guys come in!

Allright all BS aside I'm still looking and searcing through all the cam selections for my 01 SS M6. I am wanting a cam only monster for now. The car is not a DD and will not seen much driving time really AT ALL this fall. I do like to play on the street, and won't hit the track anymore until I have a 12 bolt in next spring.

I am looking for great power on the street that I can romp on the pedal and throw me back in the seat, and at the same time run me mid ish 11/s cam only.

I honestly dont want a small cam like a f13, I'm playing around with people who have trex's and ms4's along with other running with people who are custom cams

My only problem with a custom cam Is I'm the one shelling out the cash not my rentz, so I would like a cam that has been proven. haha I guess I am also young so I do want to say I am over 400 to the wheels cam only and have that chop like a ms4 on 111lsa

Here's some of the cams I have looked at

MS4.. might not have enough tq
TRex.. need more input
smaller cams.. still researching

Thank you

cam only:

230/228, .592/.588 110-1 LSA

Custom reverse, great all around, plenty low/mid trq and nice carry after peak.

I am going with the 231/237 .598/595 112 +2

I know a guy with this exact cam and bolt-ons as me that went 11.9x without the udp in his 99.

I had a 224/220 and went 11.6s constantly.
Read around, that is a slugish LUNATI cam on low end. Needs more compresion and gears.

Who? Dan? He's got a pretty stout 99 for cam only.

bigger is not always better, listen to what predator-Z said. It would make killer power for cam only. I have seen guys around here getting beat by people with smaller cams, because the power under the curve.

If I had to do it over again I would be going a bit smaller on my cam.

I really enjoy my G5X3 cam from LG. It drives VERY nicely for a decent size cam (234/242), and still gets good gas mileage (6spd). Made 405/380 at the wheels and went 11.7@120.

Are you saying you dont want the choppy idle of the MS4? Might want to look into a smaller cam then, the Trex has a pretty wicked idle too.

no I do want the chop, and a head turner... i know it's all about peformance but im also 18 almost 19

I'm really after a fun cam with lots of power tomplay around with for the summer and some the rest fo the year. Then next spring swap to a custom cam when I get a 12 bolt and hit them mid 11 e/t's cam only

Ive been looking at ms4 and the G5X3, along with learning more about custom grinds.

I won't hit the track for about ayear, so Im just looking for something fun and a head turner

Why do you want such big cams when you wont be going to the track? I think the HP #'s have gotten to you but if your looking for a "fun cam" on the street it will only be so long untill you realize you wasted your money on the MS4/T-rex/anything similar.

Try the F14 high lift. It is bigger than the F13 and will make better numbers. Cam only in a z06 i saw a high lift put down 435/416. There are also a few custom grinds that are bigger from Futral.

Thats why you downshift.

I got it barely used to a pretty good deal.

I will def be going with a bigger cam when I get back from from my deployment here in hawaii.

I just got my F14 in, cant wait to get it tuned good enought to drive around. It sounds pretty stout at idle and just reving it a little bit.
