Default turbo LT1 or LS1?

I plan on buying a v6 camaro and putting a v8 in. I also plan on putting a turbo on as well. I haven't decided on how big, but I want to have over 500hp. Which would be a better source of power, LT1 or LS1? I know I'll have a lot of money into the turbo, so I want to start with something that'll give me good reliable hp. might be too much to ask idk. wanted to get some view points before I pull out the wallet. thanks, Melon07

Start off with a V8, and LS1 if you can - there is a lot more for tuning.

Regular SBC or LS1. LT1 is just harder to find good parts for unless you feel like converting over heads, intakes, etc to run SBC stuff on LT1 block.

500hp with FI on a LT1 would not be hard at all... 500 hp with a LS1 is even easier.

I didn't really read his post. We have an LT1 that we are hoping makes a little more than 500 hp so I've been both the LT1 and LS1 routes.

IMHO, I'd go straight to ls1/ls2 co'z chances are , you're gonna itch for more than 500hp in the future, and by the seemingly ever growing popularity of the lsx's in turbocharging world....who knows if you might run into a great deal on a turbo kit/set-up that somebody's wanting to upgrade from .

For only 500 hp, stick with the v6 and put a turbo on it.

Why buy a car to swap the motor, just but a ls1 car to begin with, they're cheap enough (if you want a camaro z28/formula)

well, I want to buy a 'early' fourth generation camaro because they have the more round body style. and the only v8 then, was the LT1. so, if I want that body style, I might as well buy a v6 and convert to LS1. that way my insurance is cheaper too!

it would be easier to buy a ls1 camaro and put the lt1 front end on it... lot cheaper...
