Default Tires

Well I got rid of my Mickey Thompson ET Street, 26 x 10.5 x 16. I was not hooking up with them at all. Now I bought the 15" x 10 Pro Stars and want to put some M/T slicks on them. What size should I get them 26" or 28" by 10.5 on 3.73's, I'm also pushing 421 RWHP and 400RWTQ. I'm launching around 4500 to 5000 RPM (thats where my peek TQ is at). Oh and I also have all the suspension mods.

i am not an expert on tires and am also going to need some new ones soon. Usually the bigger the diameter the better, no? I am debatting whether to go with torque thrust II 17x11 in the back or pro star 15x11's to fit the m/t's. I got 415rwhp and am curious if some 315 nitto's would hook up good enough or if i have to go for the mickeys.

Look into the ET Street Radials, they have broken more Rears than any of the other ones.
I am goin with 15X8 Weld Prostars with 275/50R15's when I finish my setup.

With 3.73s and your power level I would go with a 26" tire.

Just like everyone else has said...with a 3.73 gear, you would best benefit from a 26" tall tire. If you go 4.10, or plan to spray it, step up to a 28".

I think with your power you could pull 28" tires...I'm switching to 4.10s and 28s, but I'm not making the power you are and I'm an A4..My launches on 26" ET radials at last week's track rental were violent and resulted in some spinning to a 1.58...If you are having trouble on 26s then I think 28s would help your launch even with 3.73s...I've seen some good results in stick cars with the 275 60 R15 Et Radials fyi...

FWIW,

I had 4.10s and 275/60 MT DRs for my old 396ci, that would probly have put down 450rw.

Thats my next tire/gear combo...Got a Richmond spool, 4.10s and an install kit sitting in the garage...and the 275 60 R15s are a phone call away...

Thanks guys. I'm gonna get he 28's x 10.5 cause I will be getting the 12 bolt with 4'10 gears and will be doing a cam swap pretty soon (more power). The one time I hooked up with those tires I had to do a John Force burn out, but after that there went the infamous 7.5. I was also able to get the drivers side front tire off the ground like 2" with the stock 17" rims

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main advantage/point of running a 28" tall tire with a higher numerical gear the fact you won't need to hit 4th on the big end?? not necessarily the bigger sidewall for starting line traction purposes ???

Higher Gear will get you off the line quicker, most people do use that with the 28" Tire to not get into 4th. Lower Gear and a smaller Tire does just as good with a smaler Stall, depends on what you want to do..
