Default Mid Engine Swap Thoughts

The Giocattolo was a car built in Australia in the 80's using an Alfa body and a Holden engine shoved in its rear....

Kerb Weight stock = 880kg

Its obviously very 80's with all the colour matching.... but a cool concept nonetheless......

Along these lines..... what else would be good as a mid engined swap

Toyota mr2 .
Also maybe an old school bug with weights in the front so you don't flip it by dropping the clutch. Haha.

Fiero, they shove a 4.9 northstar and sbc's in them so an lsx should be right at home.

Sorry.... should have been more specific.

Other interesting mid engine swaps apart from the obvious.

The engine bay of an MR2 is cramped enough as it is with a four cylinder.

MAJOR cutting/fabricating would be required.

But I saw a picture of one with some V6 in it.

An LS1 in an MR2 would be a bit of a strech, judging by those photos.

The Giacatollo is a front engined Alfa that has been converted to mid engine.

Similar deal to the Renault Clio V6..... lose the back seat.....

like this plan for a mid engined Mustang... http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30114

Default Not LS, but cool

Kushan Peykarian built a mid-engine 85 Porsche 944 with a 406 Gen 1 motor and Vortec blower back in 95. Ran 9.92's at 144 in the quarter.

The Renault R5 Turbo 2 would be another good platform for a transverse swap.

Jay Leno built Shogun! A mid engine Ford Festiva with an SHO motor in the back.

Back in '86 a guy in Santa Cruz, CA put together a Ford Fiesta with a '68 Olds Toronado Transaxle and a 400 Gen 1. Ran 12.4's at 115.

The Corvair has been done with an LS motor.

There's a Porsche 914 with a mid LS6 motor.
