buying wrecked?
i was looking into a new car its a 2002 WS6 trans am 11,545 miles, 16,500$, t-tops, 6-speed, ls1, all options. but it was in a wreck in the rear end and Has a REBUILT title. the frame was realighned and all body pannels and hatch are new. is it worth it to buy a wrecked car?
Thanks

i would if you arnt planning on getting rid of it, only thing that title is going to do for you is shaft you in the long run when you go to sell it with 132,000 miles and a rebuilt title there going to say POS.. if your keeping it and the cars in perfect condition that title means nothing and you have a basicly new T/A

i've owned a couple wrecked cars including my '00 V6 camaro and i NEVER had a problem with the car. It's only a little harder to sell them. I sold my prior wrecked Camaro with 57k miles, no t-tops, cloth, and almost winter time for $7,700 i thought that was a good price and they love the car and still have it. It's all about wether you are gonna sell it soon or not and get your use outta it. I'd tell him you have $14.5k cash and take it if it was me. I was looking at a '00 T/A M6 46k miles is wrecked and i coulda had it for $5,600 It needed fixing but that's no big deal. I could have traded him my car for that T/A and all the parts straight up but i just don't know if i wanna worry about fixing it up... oh well. I'd get it if i were you

Wow ok, if its a v6 and yer not going to put a ton of strain on it sure whatever maybe... but cmon.. the way my fuggin car twists and screams and screeches and has the back end twist like a 17 y.o. on prom night... yeah.. I dont know if id trust it.
I mean yer only going to mod it more and more.. put more power itno a platform that isnt sound to begin with.. shrugs.. Take your time.. get an unwrecked one.. and then spend the money to paint it that damn color..
You dont wanna be acting like an sshole at 120 and then have yer backend fugg up on you.. .. this is the advice id give a friend and is merely my opinion.

I drove my old conquest tsi after it had the frame bent from a side collision... granted 4 cylinder turbo automatic,.. BUT even after we got it all fixed up etc,.. in the back of my mind I was always scared of it. Perhaps that might have been a good thing cause it made me drive it a bit more sane than i had been driving.
Im a firm believer that they can do great work and such.. but since you didnt have the work done.. you are taking someone else's word on it that it was great work.. and they are trying to sell it to you.. do you really think they will give a fair assessment.
Sorry for the preaching hehe )

I think it depends on the circumstances. Here's a scenario in which I would have bought the car. A customer had me come out to a tow in lot to remove some high dollar audio equipment from a '99 Acura Integra he had wrecked. The car had 120k but was still pretty clean and he REALLY liked this car. I looked it over and the left front was hit but it was pretty light. Inner fender wasn't damaged, control arm was bent but strut mount hadn't moved, either. The fender was trashed but hood and front fascia were easily repaired. His insurance company totaled the car , offered him 7100.00 , 5100.00 if he bought it back. There was about a 2000.00 repair IMO , told him to buy it back, repair it and pocket the 3,000.00 . You would never know this car had been wrecked.
Downside: he will have a salvage title , will only be able to get liability insurance on it BUT he plans on driving it until it's ready for the scrap heap.
In your case , buying a salvage title car even with that low of mileage might not be a good move for 15,000.00. I'd need thorough pictures and documentation to consider plus have it examined by a professional shop you trust. In other words , don't get stuck with a pig no matter how pretty she might look.
