Default Advice time guys. Test drove an 07 RX8

Well I'm not happy with my 04 A6 quattro and want a nice dd thats efficient (especially w/high fuel $). So I test drove a 6 speed loaded grand touring rx8. I'm looking to trade in my A6 and get something a bit more sporty and age appropiate (sp). The thing wasn't all that bad but for reason to me the take off wasn't all that I expected. I'm not trying to use the SS as my d.d and would like something decent and fuel efficient gimme your 2 cents. thanks
Mario

That's cause rotary motors make no low end torque. And as far as high mpg goes, they dont get great gas mileage either. IMO look at something else.

Gas mileage on the RX8 isn't any better IIRC.

that wouldn't be an upgrade. Corvettes with 6-speeds nail 30 mpg on the highway and insurance on them is less than a Civic. Problem solved.

After doing more research (shitty resale) and the responses I think it's safe to say thats a no brainer. Throw me some ideas here fella's, My ultimate goal is to keep my monthly payments under $400 (what I'm paying on my A6) and shell out no more than a grand or a grand and a half. I was looking at an 05 Magnum R/T for 19K which is right where I wanna be payment wise. This will be my dd for at least three years.

I'd say get a vette, if you need space maybe consider something like a used GTO (04 to be cheap, or 05-06 if you can afford it). I mean no one can really tell you what you need/want. But if you're after mileage and low end power the RX8 is definitely what you DONT need lol.

im with will....a GTO would be a perfect option for you. you oughta be able to find one with around 40k or less miles for 18 to 20 if a 2 door isn't a problem for you. they have great gas mileage, reliability, and have nice seats/interiors in my opinion.

I'm looking at the silver 6 speed 04 GTO at Allen Samuels Dodge up north but they're hitting me with my car is only worth 13.5K (it's mint all the way around) and books for nearly 16K (avg trade in). The goat is going for 17.4k a fair $ but the trade part is an issue.

Avoid automatic GTOs if you are concerned with mpg. The 6-speeds are the way to go.

You need to figure out if you really are just bored with your DD and are looking for a rationalization to change. Maybe you can get better mileage with something else but the hit you take trading in that car might be worse than the money you will spend on gas.

So you have an 04 A6 for sale? Pics? how many miles?
