Default Help with procharger

2 problems

Last week an intercooler pipe boosted off and I had to drive it for about 2 miles to get it home. Everything is back together and car pulls hard and idles fine but I get some hesitation every once in awhile while I am just cruising....not accelerating...? Maybe spark plugs fouled?

2nd......cleaned K&N filter and lightly oiled it and used compresses air and towels to get any excess off, but after driving the car for a few hours I get the service engine soon light and it is code p0101 (mass air flow).....What do you all do as far as the air filter....because I have a z28 and switched the maf's and neither of them are messed up....Could it be the o2's from driving the car for the 2 miles when it didn't have boost? Any help appreciated....just trying to get everything straight

I think that you should pull your plugs and check them for sure... It's defiinitely going to be running rich is it's loosing boost...

I would reset the computer and make sure that the maf is plugged in the whole way... Check your harness and make sure that the wires aren't burnt or cut...

Alright, I ordered new TR6 plugs and am just going to change them...I also have another set of o2's and am just going to change those also....then hopefully it will be ok, but at least I can narrow down stuff......It isn't loosing boost that I know of.....Its supposed to have the 8lb pully set up, but the car has headers, ory, intake, and tb......I have heard that having a free flowing engine will make it have a little less boost.....? I have seen 6lb's for sure and most likely 7......havn't been watching it too much....I just picked up car about two weeks ago and drove it a 1000 miles to get it home with none of these problems, until a pipe boosted off...off to the garage to switch out the o2's

Changing plugs........threads were oily and electrode and tip were white-ish. Autolite 5243....are these even cold enough for boost? Don't know but I am putting in NGK Tr6's like everyone else....I have a pic of them but...somethings wrong with the attachment page

Definitely go to the NGK's...I've had great luck with mine and many have that are on here... Sounds like you probably fouled them a bit possibly...

Finally, done with the plugs...now on to carbon fiber valve covers.....anyone think the o2's got damaged driving with a pipe boosted off....still have the problem with code p0101 I think....(dont think spark plugs will fix that)......what do you all do as far as your air filter....do you oil it at all? Just trying to eliminate K&N oil on the mass air flow....thanks for the responses

Are the Maf's gutted or anything like that?? You're completely sure that they're not damaged in any way?? If it were an O2 problem they have their own code and I do not think that they would throw a code for the MAF if it were an 02 problem... How much boost are you running??? Have you reset the computer yet?? If you haven't then I would try that and see if it comes back on...

if you have a friend with a fbody, try swaping maf's and see if that fixes the problem.

I have a Z28 and have switched the Maf's and when in the z28 both maf's are fine.....Both have screens.....the car has 4 o2 sensors but only 2 are hooked up....I guess cause it has no cats.....The tuner must have made the o2 codes not come up

boost is a few posts up....has 8lb pulley but I have only seen 6-7

I have a programmer and have reset the codes a few times and it comes back on after the car has been driven for a few hours.

There really is no 8lb pulley.
How much boost the blower can produce depends on many variables.
* Cubic inch. The larger the engine the less boost it will make with a P-1SC.
* Headers and exhaust. A better flowing system will produce less boost, requires a smaller pulley to regain the loss in boost. Ultimately though, more power will be gained.
* Camshaft and heads. A camshaft with some overlap will leak out some boost through the valves. Better flowing heads react a lot like a better flowing exhaust system.
* Altitude. Elevation plays a big part in how much boost is produced. Those people living in the higher elevations have to spin the blower harder to see boost.
* Condition of engine. An engine with real good sealing rings will ultimately produce more boost than one with worn rings.
* Rpm. An engine that is spun up higher in the rpm range will normally produce more boost.

We take all of these items into account when we order an ATI ProCharger for a customer. Bob

Thanks for explaining...Bob is the man ......I am going to test her out today and hopefully it is fixed and if not, I guess I am going to need to get 2 o2s and a wideband from exotic performance

So if the car is barely moving, the idle jumps to 1500rpm's? Sounds like it needs a little more tuning. what size cam is it?

tr224.....doesn't really jump....if your going down the road at say 50 mph and push the clutch in....the rpms drop to 1500 and then when you come to a complete stop it drops to normal idle.....I did remove a restrictor plate on the air pipe (for smog) on the header, but will reinstall and see if it makes a difference.....it didn’t block it off, just reduced the hole by half

Its normal, trust me. My car has done the same thing with 2 different combinations and 3 different tunes/tuners.

My car will occassionally idle as high as 1500 RPMs when coasting (however, my car is cam only, no FI). When I run the car really hard for a good 15-20 seconds and then let off, it will try to die... then for a little while after that (I'm assuming until the computer gets its bearings, so to speak), it will idle high when coasting. Eventually, it goes away again.

She is running perfect now, no ses light....idle is perfect all the time....put in those restrictor plates on the manifold for the smog (cut hole down by 50%) and now it is running perfect....Even with 315 drag radials I cant go all out in first or second cause she breaks loose.....and dont ask me how, but the 10 bolt is holding strong....I dont plan on doing any launches till I have the money for a rear, but I still like to go fast
