i ran 450 rwhp ho for about a year, then upped the shot and made 575 620 tq at the wheels. after that i upped is 50 hp motor, never dynoed. car was fast and had a midwest converter in it. i pulled the motor to go turbo and build the tranny a little. its now for sale cause im going with a glide.

We ran our SS @ 408 rwhp for a few years before the rear snapped and killed the 4L60E at the same time. Wheel hop is the devil.

I'm pushing 545rwhp now with a built 4L60E with over 200 passes and all is well.

Drag radials are hard on the tranny and rear if wheel hop is involved. The ET Streets absorb a lot of shock and can save the drivetrain in most cases.

My stocker lasted about a year, 7k miles of mostly granny driving and maybe 18-20 track passes.

Now I got a new tranny and a busted rear

It's a money pit I tell yeah.

My stock (GM remanufactured) lasted for a long time until the stator bearing took a **** in my converter. Then it took out the trans with it. All of the clutches looked great though! Best time was a 1.57 60ft - 11.20@122

I drive like an old fart....mostly....87K miles, never been apart except to install the shift kit and thats just the valve body so it's never been completely apart.... the only time it has been out of the car is to change the converter to a TCI SSF3500.....200+ passes with the last 75 or so on a 125 dry shot with several 1.5x 60's with a best pass of 11.10 @ 120 3745 raceweight 3860 street weight.....

I do use a window switch and do not spray through the shifts....I change the fluid at least once a season and there are never any piles of material in the pan...only a light dusting....I run it about a quart and a half over full and run a huge cooler....

I never thought it would have lasted this long....the math says 500+ hp on the bottle...no dyno with this set-up....

Best is in sig. below and running 500hp easy. I have a stock 4L but has an upgraded sick rebuild done by Specialty Trans. If it is built right it will last a while. Have a new cam now and should run faster and still hold up.

I ran mine for 2 years trans was still going but the engine isnt. I decided not to play with it and just go TH400 so I know what I got, I dont think it would have lasted much longer, it was starting to get hotter and hotter at the track when I was making back to back runs.

Sounds like the weakest link isn't the stock tranny per say but the rear end.

I'm at just about 400 rwhp and my stock tranny and rear are holding up fine, although I drive about twice a week and it needs new tires so they dont grab they just slide
