since you have the engine apart, you might wanna consider studs. i dont know the price on LS1's but the were an ok price for a little insurance.

If they aren't stretch or(torque to yield) bolts they may be used again idk.

Why would you want to. While you have it apart use good bolts. ARP or the KaTech rod bolts. I don't believe they were meant to be reused.

You're building an engine and popping a few bucks for a manual is out of the question? So much good info in there...bearing clearances, torque specs and sequences, etc. Tools aren't exactly where you want to do your cost-cutting, and a good manual is exactly that.

I have a manual buddy! Just don't have it in front of me right now, so I figured I would ask you guys on here. I'm just trying to figure out my options. I've read that the stock main bolts are good for around 750 HP. Thats plenty for me. I know I can buy ARP's but if I don't have to I don't want to. My plans are to run this motor until the end of the year, then build a bigger one. So why dump a bunch of money in it if I don't have to.

If I put studs in it, don't I have to get it line honed?

I went through this deciding on parts for my blower motor..All the top shops said ARP main studs were a waste on anything under 800RWHP... Just finished assembling my motor stock main bolts, ARP head studs...

Yes you should but most don't and get away with it..

12560273 GM crankshaft stud
12560272 GM crankshaft bearing cap bolt
12556127 GM crankshaft bearing cap bolt (side)

10 bolts each, I paid $70 total for all of them through a non-sponsor internet dealer.

You should in no way ever re-use the inner torque to yield bolts. They are a one time use only. The outer cross bolts are not torque to yield and can be re-used however. Use the part numbers above and get yourself a set.
