Default question about a ticking sound

ok i have this ticking sound it comes from the left driver side of the engine. it is not present if the car is park and it doesnt tick if i rev the motor up from a stop. i did notice a little bit of lost oil pressure when the car has been running for a little while. heres a video of it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=dK_fQ_5NSNw . any one got a idea?

could be a rocker.....also could be a exhaust leak, but i doubt it considering the oil loss

well yea there is a slight exhaust leak but the ticking noise is not the sound that you hear on that clip. see some say it could be a lifter but i was also seeing what else it might be.

well ticking internally can develop from all kinds of things....i mean if its a cam bearing or rod bearing, there will be metal....rockers will sometimes give off metal also....id try to single out the main area then if that cant be decided check your oil

Holy cow!!! if it sounds that loud in the car I could only imagine outside. you need to stop driving it and figure out if it's a spun bearing ot collapsed lifter. that sound like a knock not a tap, could be a loud tap which then I would look at lifters if kinda of a knocking sound then probably spun bearing... man I feel it!!!!

That did not sound at all like an exhaust leak. That sounds like something is rattleing not ticking.

you say rattle i say tick thats just how i described the sound. but i wanna know why it would only make it while i drive the car. and not while the car is parked like if its parked and i rev the motor it dont make a sound. i put it on a lift and and put it in gear and gave it some gas still no sound only while the car is moving does it make the sound. like would the increase load of the car pulling its weight cause a sound to come out in the top end?

regardless of rpm range, theres a difference in load on the car when youve got it in drive and moving

alright I'm calm!!!! just kinda hard to assist thru the internet. check wheel bearing/ shock strut. motor/trans mounts. if it only happens when car is rolling then I would look at drive train. engine I would think it would do it all the time..... something to think about..

was listening to vid and noticed the "sound" kinda goes away there at the end then comes back before vid ends, are you shifting gears at that point or just letting of the gas pedal? is it an M6 or A4?
