L82 swap

L82 swap
Hi guys, I am brand new here. I've always had the corvette fever but now that I'm 24 yrs old I can finally afford the addiction
I am on the hunt for a garage babied 1980-82 Corvette with L82 crossfire injection engine. We all know they are the slowest corvettes ever made. So does anyone have any information on performing an LS1 / T56 swap or does anyone know anyone that has done this? I've seen 1970's vettes with the swap and some early C4's with the swap, but no L82 to LS1 conversions. They're are some differences between the last few years of the C3 , I am just not educated as what exactly the differences are besides crossfire FI, and the difficulty of an entire drivetrain transplant.
I love the beauty of the last 3 years of the C3, just can't justify driving one without a bad *** LS1 under the hood!

I did some searching and found a couple L82 swaps in threads on a different forum...
The biggest issues I could think of is what engine & trans mounts to use for the T56 to line up in the console, and for radiator and water pump clearance. Just want to say...WOW...the LS1 is an extremely tight fit inside a 1982 corvette

The only way you will get the shifter in the right place for your console is to use a relocation kit for the shifter on the T56. Too far back otherwise.

Just so you know...
L82 specifies the performance engine option from ~1975 to 1980. L83 is the engine code for the crossfire injection which was only found on the 1982 C3 and 1984 C5.
GL with the swap, I'm hoping for a swap for my '82 in the future but not until the funds are where they need to be so the swap can be done how it needs to be done.

1982 Corvette Ls1 Swap
i started a LS6 swap into my 1982 VETTE and i have some choice parts left, i have a brand new DAKOTA DIGITAL DASH installed into my dash bezels that were never installed, (speedometer, tachometer, and the 5 guages in the center console along with the gear select indicator and dash wire harness lug bar.) this is necessary to convert your transmission pulses per mile to the newer and higher rate used in late model cars. these can be viewed on-line, just click onto DAKOTA DIGITAL DASH. it is also very classy to see your dash board in digital blue read out that is very visible. will work in other VETTES.
i have $1100.00 invested plus my bezels, will consider any real offer.
thanx spordee1

Im doing a swap in a 77 vette. Its really not too hard for our cars. I got my motor mount plates on ebay. You will need to get another water pump outlet and redo the heater outputs. For fuel you can use a 82 sending unit and replace the fuel pump with a walbro 255. Redo the fuel line to work with the 99 vette FPR and your ready to go.
