Default What do you think I should do...Tuning with MAFT

I got a chance to AutoTap last night.

My O2's averaged .854mV at WOT , so I think Bears A/F is off

however I did find out that my LTRIMS are averaged +8.94 at partial throttle. I have a lot of Knock Retard while under WOT, so I've got a little tunning to do..

Do you think adjusting my LTRIMS down to 0 or - would help the Knock retard?

What do you guys think

Both your 02's and positive ltrims show that you're running lean, and consequently probably the cause of your KR. First tune your part throttle to give you slightly negative ltrims. Once you get your ltrims dialed in, then start working on your WOT settings to bring your 02's to the .89x range. Of course getting the car onto a dyno with wideband 02 would be best, but if you're in the same boat as me (no dyno's anywhere near), ya work with what you've got.

I managed to get my LTRIMS (base) down to an average of -1.04, and my WOT O2 average at .909, and absolutly no KR.

However my LTRIMS for WOT are still way in the positive (6.2-7.8) So does this mean I'm still running lean at WOT and need to richen it up a bit, or should I not worry about it since my O2's are reading .909

Current settings on the MAFT are
Base:15%rich
WOT: no change

From what I understand, When you enter WOT, the LTFT is carried over from whatever cell you were in when you went WOT. If you're cruising along and you're in say Cell #10 which is reporting say 1.57 on the LTFT, You punch it and the puter switches you to WOT mode. It takes that cell #10 into consideration. If that particular cell was (-) it would know that it was correcting for a rich condition and therefore has no concerns and changes the carried value to 0. Now in this scenario the value is a (+) so it knows that it was correcting for a lean condition. It throws a flag and says hey, if we were lean before, we'll probably be lean in WOT and it takes that value and decides what amount of fuel to automatically add in WOT.

So I think this idea of averaging the LTFT's isn't exactly the idea. The idea is to get all cells in a (-) value so it won't add any extra fuel when you go WOT. It would be almost impossible to get consistent WOT results when it's going to be adding various amounts of fuel depending on what the Cell's LTFT value was.

So if it's the cell is (-) when you hit WOT it will make that cell's LTFT value 0 which is absolutely nothing. You know that there will be no other influences outside of the PE table.

Excellent thanx for the info. I'm just going to worry about my O2's at WOT, but I totally understand where you're coming from TheDogofWar
