Default Check Gauges light

Just came on in my car. Gauges seem to be fine, its not the oil because I just had it changed this week. Engine isnt making any funny noises. What should I check first?

And my newbness to the ls1 shines. So is there no "low gas" light? I was under the assumption that the "check gauges" light would indicate that something is wrong.....Regardless, thanks for the help and I will do my best to research more before I ask anymore ignorant questions.

Yeah, I was terrified when I saw that light. It just turned out I needed gas. 93 octane F-T-W!

(Mods- That's my protest against this stupid filter thing. You won't ban anything offensive, but then you can't allow simple abbreviations that you think are dumb. That's pretty sad.)

yep, I was running home to grab some stuff for work and I am about to go fill up. The light just caught me off guard. In all of my other cars, they have had low gas lights, not check gauges lights. Check gauges sounds to me like somehting is wrong, not you are low on fuel, but thanks very much for the quick responses.

Be kind to your fuel pumps out there - always fill up when around 1/4. Check gauges light come on for other things too.
