I bought an '01 Tahoe two days ago for a daily driver and want to know which motor I have in it for ummm gas reasons

I assume I look up the VIN to find out but can someone tell me where to search it to find out if I have a 4.8 or a 5.3 please.

I do want to put a screen in it for the little one and maybe one 12".
I have a set of Kappa components that I might put in the front doors for a little more mid bass.

I thought about putting that one chamber flowmaster that I have on it but I think it will be way to loud and have a ton of sound drone.

I will probably get it tuned as the idle sits at about 500 and I think its a little low.

don't bother modifying it, or you will soon find the limits of the shitbox 4L60e and wish you had left the thing alone.

Yea, I was working on my '92 z28 for a daily driver since it would be free but I gave up on the reconditioning for now and sucked it up. I need to give yall a call and come by sometime soon.


I tried calling yesterday but they didnt answer all day. I will try again today so we can start discussing how and why they are responsible for rebuilding my motor. Its probably gonna stress me into drinking again!

I am gonna be at Ricky's tomorrow detailing the Tahoe. If its raining, we will just move inside his garage as my shop is full of my '92 for the time being.

I am gonna get a case and a couple bottles so give me a shout if you wanna come out.

the low idle is your throttle body, i work at a chevy dealership as a tech and these always do that pull the intake pipe off the TB and youll noticed that its all gummed up with grime, just buy any type of aresol cleaner at autozone or whatever and clean it out with a rag, it'll be a little hard to start but it will be ok, just give it some gas!
