Default I admit it... I'm ignorant

So help me out here... How do the Firehawk, Formula and Raptor play into the LS1 Family?

I know that the Firebird is the V6 version and that Trans AM is the V8 version but where I become ignorant is where the Firehawk, Formula and Raptor come into play, what the differences amongst them are and which ones are considered "rare" compared to the others...

Help Edumacate Me Please!

well i dunno about the others, but the Firehawk was Pontiac's factory-offered SLP package. and i've heard there were only, like, 20 or 30 built...ever.

Firehawks are like the special edition Trans Am and Formula WS6s. They also have a few other options available. The Raptor is just an aftermarket hood for the Firebirds. Firehawks are alot more rare.

So a Firehawk is just a factory upgraded V6 Firebird? Are they all "SLP"?

Is a Formula a V6 or a V8?

Where did you come up with the idea to add WS6 into your username?

I own one - my ignorance on the rest of the Pontiac Family doesn't prevent me from driving one...

Not sure why I thought if I admitted ignorance, I'd get useful replies

Firebird V6
Firebird Trans Am V8
Firebird TA WS6 V8 (TA with different hood/spoiler)
Firebird Formula V8 (firebird body)
FireHawk V8 (just a fast WS6) better hood
Mix and match the hoods, spoliers and engines you get a different name, but they are all basically Firebirds.
This is nothing compared to how many stupid Mustangs are made.

I'm sorry for making fun of the fact that you don't know anything about Firebirds even though you own one of the more sought after versions of the car.

To answer your questions, the Firebird is the base model after which all the others come from. It's like a Camaro (which this might not help at all but I figure maybe you know something about Camaros). First you've got the regular Camaro (v6). Then you've got the z28 (v8). Then you've got the SS version which is like the next step up from the z28.

Well, the Firebird has the same thing. First there's the v6 Firebird. Then there's the Trans Am, or the Formula (Both are v8s. The Formula has the body of the v6 but is a v8. The Trans Am has a different front end/rear end and some other noticeable differences). Then there's the ws6 which would be basically the same as Chevy's SS. Then there are some other variations like the Blackbird, Firehawk, Mecham, or the Hertiage. All are v8s.

I didn't really look over anything I just wrote but I'm pretty sure all that should be fairly easy to understand and should be correct. I hope that helps man.

No problem - thanks for the insight...

The Firebird/TA/WS6 difference I was aware of, it's the Firehawk/Formula/etc that I wasn't too sure about. From what you're saying the Hawk and Formula are both V8's, so what's different about them? Cosmetic or Performance or Both? Could you be specific? Thanks!

Firebird V6

Trans Am V8
Trans Am WS6 V8 (TA with different hood + Diffrent susp + alittle more power)
Trans Am Firehawk V8 (TA with different hood + Diffrent susp + alittle more power)

Firebird Formula V8 (firebird body)
Firebird Formula WS6 V8 (Same as Trans Am WS6 on a Firebird body)
Firebird Formula FireHawk V8 (Same as Trans Am Firehawk on a Firebird body)

Firebird Formula Firehawk is the most rare of all Fbodys.

V8 Firebirds is called Formula's

Firehawks are made by SLP ( Same as Chevy Camaro SS )
WS6 is made by a diffrent company someone here will inlight us.

A Formula looks just like a v6 Firebird. The cosmetic differences are the badges (obviously one says Firebird and the other says Formula). The Formula has the same performance specs as the Trans Am. The Firehawk is a v8 car. It's a special edition Trans Am.

Notice the hood is different from a Trans Am/Ws6.

Firebird Trans Am (V8)
Firebird Trans Am WS6 (V8)

Re-read GOHOME's reply about two messages above your last one. It pretty much is cut and dry, not too much else to say then what he said.
