Default Woohoo!

The wife and I got some great news today! We were pre-approved to get our home loan, so we are building a new home in Shadow Creek Ranch (in Pearland, not far from where we are now).

Vital specs:
3 bedrooms
2 full bathrooms
2 studies (one converted bedroom, one converted formal living room)
Media room (sweeeeeeeet)
3-car garage (can you say "lift"?)
2800+ square feet (our current home is about 1300)

We are VERY excited, to say the least.

If you want a rough idea of the floorplan, it's a Meritage Home, called the Conway V.

GOODBYE TINY TWO CAR GARAGE!

Congrats, who do you have doinyour loan. review your GFE real well before you go threw with everything... my company would screw so many people when I worked in the Mortgage industry, be carefull with points and acccepting an Adjustable rate mortgage. Texas dosn't appreciate as fast as other states so you might not build up enough equity by time its time to refi, in fact if its a new development you are more then likely going to loose equity in your property for a few years.

If you want to talk pm me ill tell you everything I know.

Congrats Mike, me and the old lady drove thru there about a month ago looking at homes etc. It's a very nice area and with all of the building/growth that is going to be a stand-alone little town. Let's have a party when they pour your foundation in order to break the neighbors in proper ?!

Estimate is $242,560. We'll have a better estimate once we're done with the design gallery visits. First one is today (wife is going, I'm not), second one is next Saturday.

Pearland is as far south-southeast to Houston as Plano is north-northeast to Dallas.

Congrats.

Were you an Eagle or did you move before you got that far?

If your building it yourself does that mean that you have full say over everything that goes in it? If so then I used to work for a guy that does high end custom cabinets and trim. His shop is in Santa Fe. Let me know if you want something like that.

Congrats on the new home!

Kind of, but not really. Meritage is our builder, and the wife unit is at the design gallery. We're somewhat at their mercy, but I'm not sure how much wiggle room we have when it comes to non-structural components.

However, we might eventually have some other shelves and such built, like in the offices.
