Arrow 4.10 Gears for my M6 Daily Driver

Is anyone here running 4.10 gears in their daily driver? Where did you buy them and what brand?

Pros vs. Cons ?

Gas mileage ?

If it helps, my car does not see to much highway speeds over 75mph very often.

All other opinions welcome.

I have 4.11:1 in my chevelle.. 275x40x17 tires.. I get 23+mpg doing 70-80mph on freeway. Around town, I can skip shift anygear or start in 2nd.

Is this with a A4 or M6 ?

4.30 gears in a 12 bolt with 315/35R17 Nittos and I took my car on a 300 mile trip getting and average of 20 mpg. This is on stop and go state roads at 60-65 mph with the T-tops off in a humid mid 80s day. I had the car loaded with me, my sister, our bags, a cooler, and other misc stuff to go boating. 100 miles of that trip are in a hilly part of the state and I like to play around on the twisties and straight aways. I have a healthy cam in the car so that makes a little difference.

I had 4.11s in my 9" and got 24.3mpg on a 5 hour trip. I now have 4.30s and love them even more. You will not regret it.

I've got 4.10's as well, unsure of the brand though previous owner installed them. I love them, I still have the 16 inch snowflakes though so traction is hard to come by but they are fine on the highway, I average about 26 MPG.

I 4.10 gear was the BEST mod i have done to date. milage did not drop but 1-2 on highway, but it gets 1-2 better intown. and is faster, more fun. not sure why this gear was not factory. looking at GTO's, and vett's for a DD now and one of the things that makes me so made is that i will have to spend ALOT more money to put the gear in those cars, but if i own a lsx car M6 i want a gear, they are made for each other. and trips.... i have drove my car from Huntsville, AL- houston, TX and back in under 26 hours to tune it on MTI's dyno, i have taken it to PCB countless times, and back and forth fro Auburn 3 hours one way and to the carolinas as well.

I had 4.10 Motive gears in my car...stock 10 bolt...LOVED the acceleration, and in 6th gear, mileage on the highway was nothing to cry about!

I was at the track and tore the crap out of the ring gear, so I am back to 3.42's...man I hate em!!

4.10/11's for the win!

BTW, I believe that 4.10's are a bit weaker than other ratios like 3.73s or 3.42s because of the individual thicknesses of the teeth...just what I heard once. Then I proved it lol.

Question

Where did everyone buy their gears from? .. and what brands? This is what I have found:

Motive Performance Gears

SLP Gears

Any other links anyone?

What are the stock gears at anyways?

I love 4.11's in M6 cars.Only draw back is that I would never run them in a stock 10 bolt. They are too fragile to take 4.11's and have seen a ton of them break.

he hit it on the head...see pics above...the 7.5 ring gear is already weaker than snot- now you add more teeth to the combination...UHOH

Would the 3.73s be much safer then?

I had 3 sets of 4.10s get trashed through my car (stock 10 bolt), went down to 3.73s and havent had an issue.

If you can afford a 12bolt/9inch, then the 4.11/4.10 is good, but I would personally go with a 4.30.
