I would say that's for real. If helium can alter your voice higher, why couldn't another gas alter it lower...? Makes sense to me. Did they say what kind of gas it was?

i posted what gas it was ^^^



also, helium makes the vocal chords tighten which creates a higher pitch... this gas displaces oxygen and due to it being very dense it filters out the higher pitched sound waves only leaving the lower frequencies
