Stall Converter or LT's First???
I have a grand to spend right now on my car I cant deside wether I should install a stall or Long tubes first? Any advice? The car has only 22K miles on it. I go to the drag strip alot so.... I'm confused on which first, my 60' has been 2.0-2.2 , thanks guys!

Converter will knock .3-.5 your times easy and LTs will knock off .2 at best. I'd go with the converter first, watch you 2.0-2.2 60 drop to a 1.6-1.7
BTW Love the CME on your car looks very clean
If you do go LT's avoid the SLP's, ground clearance is non existant with them

another vote for stall. I bought one in the winter a year and a half ago on a bit of a whim I waited awhile to have it put in and MAN you should get that!!! It makes it sooooooo much more fun.

converter just for the fun factor I installed my new trans and stall a couple weeks ago and it puts a smile on my face every time I kick it down because no matter what speed your at your always in the power band. I will be doing longtubes very soon hopefully that will give me a good seat of the pants improvement too.

I would definetely have to say get the stall first. It makes a night and day difference with your automatic car. As someone else stated keep in mind if it is a dd then don't go to high on the stall or otherwise you will hate the looseness feeling of it. Longtubes are nice but there is no replacement for the way that stall puts you in the back of your seat. Do it.

if it's a street car, i say get LT's first. why? because there is NO compromise with LT's. most mods have a downside to them, and a stall definitely does. no matter what size stall you get, driveability will be compromised in town and you'll have to "get used to it."
people may think there is a compromise with LT's because your exhaust will be louder. well, to me, that's yet ANOTHER bonus. there is NO compromise with LT's. it'll make your car even more driveable, get you better gas mileage, reduce your ET's...that's what i would do, JMO.

I say get a cheaper converter(& tranny cooler), and a better set of DRs
You say you plan to go to the track a lot, so you are obviously concerned with times. You probably spin the tires pretty good with the stock converter getting a 2.0+60ft on nitto 555r drag radials, if you just get the converter you are gonna spin the tires even more with the higher launch RPMs and gonna have a worse 60ft. Unless you launch it easy which inturn negates even buying a high stall converter in the first place. If you cant find traction now, when you get the converter its really gonna be fun...
Get the stall and a better set of DRs and watch that time drop faster then your erection when Golden Girls comes on TV...

I didn't mention a tune simply because he didn't show any intention of having a tune done anytime in the near future. I've seen a tune on a stock car pick up .2 in the quarter mile. I gave a very simple and rough estimate.
I could see a nice set of headers QTP's or Kooks pick up .3 or .4 tuned but that same car with a converter (3500+) would see .4-.5 off minimum due to the converter and a tune would ad the additional .1-.2
The converter car will have the edge in all situations if everything else remains constant on the car IE tune, humidity, DA, track prep, etc
There are so many variables that come into play but what it boils down to in a track application Stall>LTs
PS Drag Radials are a must with any application to get the most out of my setup
