3.8l to ls1
Alright, my brother has a 99 firebird with the 3.8l engine. We are looking to do a ls1 swap into it and just trying to figure out our shopping list and what is needed to complete it.
Here is the list we compiled so far from reading other swaps:
LS1 Engine and Transmission
LS1 PCM and Wiring Harness
LS1 K-Member and Motor Mounts
LS1 Radiator
LS1 Coolant and Heater Hoses
LS1 Steering Rack and Linkage
LS1 Throttle Cable
Now is the radiator different between manual and auto ls1s? We are doing an auto trans with the ls1. Also couldn't we just keep the 3.8l radiator and fans, or is the ls1 setup bigger?
Steering rack and linkage wouldn't be needed from what I read, some people do it for the tighter turns but the v6 one should be fine correct?
anything we are missing on the list?

did some researching and found some info out about the setups. Looks like the fans would not need to be changed and finding a 99 ls1 setup for his 99 3.8l car would be the most direct plug and play swap.

Walbro 255lph was planned for the pump, but the fuel pump assembly itself should be interchangeable right?

The 3.8L has 2 lines at the rail, a feed and return. The 99+ LS1 uses a single line rail, the regulator is before the rail. The 97-98 vette rails have a feed and return and will plug right into your lines. The newer LS1 fuel rails will require you to put a regulator on before the fuel rail.

you will also need a relay harness to make things go smoother ..also some v8 springs for the front car will sit a bit lower with v6 springs .. its fairly easy i did this in 3 adays alone on the side of my house
