cam and supporting mods vs. full exhaust and gears
I love the power in my 6 speed manual ls1 but i want more. I have some minor bolt ons and i can afford either a cam and supporting mods or gears and a nice exhaust including y pipe headers and ect. What should i do? This car is a daily driver and gas mileage is not that important to me but reliabality is more so.

full exhaust and gears would be considered supporting mods for a cam......in any event if you are asking about putting anything bigger than an LS6 cam in an all stock LS1 f-body everyone on here is going to tell you no, including myself, get the headers, y-pipe, and cat-back, and if you have money left over look into an LS6 intake and P&P TB and a shifter

First thing I did was buy a lid and a cam. Of course it is not ideal, but I did pick up about 25rwhp without a tune and other supporting mods. This isn't too bad of a route for a 6 speed, but only if it is a 226 or smaller cam would I consider suggesting it to you. 230+? Forget about it!

by supporting mods i ment lifters, roller rockers, dyno tune and other parts that are needed to install a cam with more lift and duration. i would have a shop do it. the car allready has a flowmaster weld in and o2 eliminators hooked up and ready to be used.

I wouldn't worry about the roller rockers with a cam. The factory rockers are great. I would suggest hooker or pacesetter headers ( prices are about the same ) and y-pipe and maybe a TR224 or something similar with a cutout in the I-pipe. Gears would be good but the 3.42's aren't to shabby. Throw a tune in and you should have a pretty sweet street/ track car. Just my .02 cents.
