im lookin at a pair of ls6 heads. 243 casting and comes with z06 springs. $450. is that a pretty good deal?

how much does it normally cost to get them c&c'd and port them?

was looking at the TEA website and they listed various LS6 porting options for something like $900 up to $1700 i think.....assuming you have LS6 cores to trade...otherwisee they had a +$800 core charge.

the LS6 (not zo6...thats the car) springs are pretty much worhtless unless you're sticking with a VERY small cam.

but you may be able to sell them for $50-100 if they are new, offset the cost of the heads.

800 bucks seems to be a common core charge. So unless you want to buy some 800 dollar heads on top of a thousand or more for a CNC port, I'd say some good condition LS6 heads for 450 are a good deal.

texas speed sells cast # 243 heads for about $900. thats ported stage 1 with ls6 springs and steel valves. if your deal you get light weight sodium filled valves and there in good / great shape, call a speed shop like texas speed and and them how much to freshen up and port those. i would upgrade the springs ,ls6 spring can only handle 570 lift cam. just my 2 cents

450 is a great deal, assembled heads go for around 500-550.

I sold some LS6 heads with new Comp918 springs for i think around 530 shipped.

Depends on how much power you are looking for and how much you want to spend. The ls6 heads will give you some decent gains over your stock factory heads and coupled with a good cam and bolt ons you can hit over 400 rwhp pretty easily. If your going for a max effort all out build then go with something else but if your on a strict budget the ls6 heads arent a bad deal for that price.
