How bad is untuned?
Just curious, thinkin' about doin a cam swap (still not sure on the cam yet, lookin' anywhere from mid 20's to mid 30's, plenty of research still to do) and i was curious as to how bad it's going to be to drive it untuned. Don't worry, i'll end up tuning it soon after, i just have a small break in between holidays to do the swap and then i'll get it tuned when i go back down to Atlanta. Just wanted to know roughly what i'd expect from an mid-high 20's cam or a low-mid 30's cam (untuned).
Specs are in my sig. Thanks.

Yea an untuned cam is tought to drive on. My buddies 224 idled like crap and he actually had to have it towed to East Side Performance to have them tune it because it kept bucking, surging, and stalling on the way there. As others have suggested though go easy until you have it tuned. Good luck though with the cam swap!

Hmmmm, then i fail to see the huge issue (besides not getting all the potential power).
Sorry, i'm retarded in this area (hence which section of the forum i'm in). Still researching but plenty i have to learn before i go through with this. Thank you.

I had Pretty much all the mods minus the catback installed at once on my car And I ran my car as a Daily driver untuned for about three months. It really depends on the cam you go with. Running rich wont really hurt anything other than your gas milage and some driving manners. Just dont race the car or get it much over 4k rpm and you should be alright untill you can get a tune

You will really just have to wait to see once you install the cam. It's hit or miss really. A more mild cam will have a better chance of not needing a tune on the first startup but it's really up to you to figure out once the cam is in. If you have issues like stated above (bucking, stalling, etc.) then you need it tuned ASAP and you may actually need a mail-order tune just to get your car running enough to drive it to get dyno-tuned. You could have it towed as well.

Someone mentioned keeping it below 4k RPM and not racing... i'd like to know why. People say i run lean and run rich but i really don't know wtf that means aside that it's a FtA ratio and they should be balanced. Not sure what happens if they're not, that's why i'm ASKING...
