Default How to know a good tune from an average tune?

After some bolt-on's, I know it's best to get a tune to get the most power out of your mods.

But how do you know a great tune from an average tune??

I know to do my research...but around my area there are some local guys that I don't have a lot of experience (if any)...or I can travel to NC/FL to get a larger company to do it.

I know street credibility and word of mouth is great...so maybe someone can offer some around the SC/NC/FL area. Go local....or go with a big company??

I'd say go local IF you can find someone that is legit and you get reviews of their shop and tuning. If not, go big company. Actually if you just have boltons, I'd go with a mail order tune.

Well I've never had it dyno'd so I wouldn't mind a good dyno tune or street tune with a dyno after to know what kind of numbers I am pushing.

Well.... I have just few mods on my camaro(in my sig.) and I took it to a local guy who is actually a sponsor on here "Norris Motorsports" and I gained almost 19rwhp and like 15 torque. Also adjusted the cooling fans since I added the 160 t-stat.I'm freaking amazed of the difference that tune made to my car,it even runs smother, cooler and the power is worth the $$$, I hope this will help ya

I've heard some good things about a local guy here but am still just a little shy about shelling out $400 for a local "mobile" guy when I could get a larger shop to do it for the same.

If it turns out the local guy is legit and does great work, I have no problem paying him the money...just doing my research is all.

Honestly with your mods you could do a lot of simple things with a handheld like the Crane/Vinci. It wont cost 400 either, if it does I'll sell you mine for less. Tuning isnt cheap, thats for sure. You should see my tuning bill
