Default new ls6 head and cam but little power increase?!

I just installed ported ls6 heads and a 224/224 cam on my ws6 and it does not fell that much more powerful. I have the hooker long tube headers on it and don’t have the o2 sims on it. Would that make the deferens? My friend send that I didn’t have to get the ecm reprogram.

You need to have it tuned. Long tube headers make your car run rich.

It could be any number of things... Do you know the pushrod length that was used?

Friend of mine accidentally installed 7.40" (stock length) pushrods in his h/c car. It didn't feel any faster than my cam-only car, because the valves were hanging open (a compression check confirmed this - compression readings of 135-140 psi on his motor). Stuck some 7.35" pushrods in there and damn, that thing's an animal now.

You need to get some o2 sims on your exaust and you need to get it tuned.

you need to get it tuned, do you have a previous dyno? Other things are, what are your mods, do you have an ls6 intake. Other factors are important. What type of port job did they do on the heads.

If you're getting it tuned have the shut the back O2's off and save yourself the cash on the simulators.

Your right, if your cam's base circle is same as stock, but your heads are milled .055", you would need a pushrod that is .055" shorter. The 7.35" rods are actually .050" (50 thousands) shorter. Close enough. No problems at all. Remember, aftermarket pushrods come in .050" increments.

If their is nowhere close to you, maybe you should look into mail order tuning. Thunder Racing or MTI could hook you up.
