How to determine gears?
#4
If the gears are stock, the GUx code is the guaranteed way to tell (on the door frame sticker).
If you think they've been swapped by a previous owner, get it into lockup on the highway, make note of the rpm
@55mph
2.73's = 1378rpm
3.23's = 1630rpm
3.42's = 1726rpm
3.73's = 1882rpm
Your stock tach will be off a little bit, so a scanner would really be more precise, but that will at least let you know if someone has done a swap.
