How do I find out what year PCM is in my Hawk?
I was told the PCM was changed in my Hawk and swapped with a different model year. Is it possible and if so how do I verify which year PCM is in the car?

Either with LS1edt or a Tech-II the VIN number could be seen and to have a diffrent year PCM then VIN would have to consist of a year digit for the model year the PCM code was flashed to.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the VIN number from my PCM using Autotap. Could anyone tell me which numbers in the VIN translate to the model year?
Thanks!

10th digit from the left.
Its a Letter for pre 01 cars, so a 1995 would be a S and a 2000 is a Y.
For 2001 it changed to a number so a 2001 is a 1.

Does that mean you have a 2002 and they put in a 99 PCM and flash ?
Does your car have a 85 mm MAF ?
If so I see an issue.
99s only had 75 mm MAF, the PCM MAF table understands MAF output frequency from 1,500 to 12,000 Hz but a newer car that came with a 85 mm MAF, it's PCM MAF table understands MAF freq as low as 750 Hz with 50 Hz steps.
Thus if the wrong MAF table is used or a 85 mm MAF is put in a 99 PCM then anytime the MAF outputs less then 1,500 Hz, the PCM's A/D convertor does not understand that freq and PCM pukes in not being able to convert and compare to its MAF table and PCM goes way lean since it has no MAF table value for that lower received freq.
I did a bunch of testing of 85 mm MAFs in my 99 C5 and it was a fricking zoo with hugh lean issues when lifting TPS and MAF send out less then 1500 Hz Freq.

Re: How do I find out what year PCM is in my Hawk?
John, That is correct. There is a 99 PCM in my 02 and I'm not sure what size MAF. I will check the size of the PCM a little later. At the moment I am assuming the MAF is 75 mm since I haven't had any problem with the car.
