Default GMMG too Loud? Bullet maybe?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok guys, I got the GMMG on and I like it but it seems a tad too "in your face loud". The bullet muffler I had was really deep and sounded so awesome for 50 bucks...course I lost a lot of backpressure and it feels stronger now that it has backpressure. It doesnt sound much different up to 3000 rpm but then it really starts, not popping but kinda lapping, if you can understand that..like a rasp and almost like a straight pipe sounds wide open...granted it sounds better than that...I been wanting a GMMG and the ability to say I got one of the best exhausts on the car to be honest with you....but Im not entirely impressed with it..I think the bullet sounded meaner cause it wasnt raspy and it was just deep in tone...

my question is I wanna go CORSA now cause a buddy of mines t/a had it and I loved it..but I dont have the money right now even if i sold the GMMG ...plus the wife would kill me...do you guys think that putting the Bullet muffler back on would help the tone since I have longtubes with an off road y pipe and a three inch system back to the gmmg? I havent put any tips on yet cause Im waiting on the money for CORSA tips and their 350 bucks...so do you guys think that would deepen the sound..I heard some guys say its just loud with longtubes and a bullet will even out the sound..maybe where y pipe meets the I pipe?

Either throw a cat in or another chambered muffler. That ORY is whats killing the sound for you because GMMG on a LT1 is better than sex!

yeah and thats what i have read, but most of the guys that think that have stock manifolds...the ory is causing the raspiness..so im hoping a bullet will cure some of that

a old trick is to aim the turn downs at the tires. the rubber will kill some of the decibles. i am running LT with 3 inch pipe to the bullets and 3 inch turn downs out of the bullets. we aimed the turn downs dead at the et streets. its still loud but the tire took alot out of it.

Maybe a SLP resonator? I guess if you make your own y pipe that merges differently it should take some of the rasp out.

as to the getting old comment no im 22 years old..It just doesnt sound as good as a lot of the other GMMG exhausts I have heard...why would the bullet amplify the raspiness and cats smooth out the tone..dont quite understand that one..I loved it with just the bullet on cause it was so deep..i searched and alot of posts say that with lt's and an ORY its just wicked loud..and that guys use cats to quiet the rasp down..and you can get the exhaust at GMMG's website..or either buy it off someone who has it for sale..

Look inside a Bullet, it's straight through..it amplifies the sound.
A Cat is solid, the Exhaust has to go through something, therefore muffling it.

Throw a CAT on it will deepen the sound substantially.

Either get a high flow cat or stick a long powerpack in the I-Pipe

Not quite, a bullet has fiberglass packing within it to soak up some of the sound, it should clear up some of the raspyness. I would, just because i wouldn't like the idea of having a bullet going into 2 chambers try putting either cats on it or adding one more chamber in the I-Pipe, should help some.

Actually it is ceramic wraping, i think it just modifys the pop and sounds redneckish.
