Default Eng runs BAD, shakes and no power!! HELP!

Hey guys,

I'm looking for help here with my new problem!!; I felt a small power loss 3weeks ago that never stopped getting bigger. Plus, my car is shaking badly and even started to make small weird backfire. The ''service engine soon'' has always been lighted on my car and now its flashing. Even the red ''check gauge'' sign is slightly flashing. I changed my spark plugs 4000miles ago with NGK TR55gp and just changed my wires for MSD. The air filter is freshly washed. The car is able to rev to 6600rpm cutoff. The air fuel ratio gauge is weird too. It's rarely in the green zone.

What could it possibly be??? gas filter change time?? I tried a search and the guys we're saying plug wires or rear end. The rear end is full of oil and no leak. 22k miles old. The driving shaft is perfect too at each end...

Did you do a scan to see why the check engine light is on?

...yeah and the scan found nothing good. It got codes for the MAF, the intake, EGR...because my pcm is not stock. Garage told me that the SES flashing means that there is a new error code.

SES flashing is usually a misfire, not just a new code - post all the codes.

It could be a lot of things, but a flashing SES is a misfire and should be addressed right away. Pull the codes.

I agree to that. The wires look alright. Could it be the coil packs or the spark plugs, is there a way to know? ...thx a lot by the way

Who can get the codes? The garage I went couldnt tell me whats wrong with the code because to many things have been changed to the stock pcm. I didnt went to my performance shop because I thought it was only the wires, so I changed em. But I'm still stuck with the problem.

Yeah i know when people do header installs they sometimes crack the plugs and the same thing happens.

You can get the codes scanned for free at advance auto or auto zone.

I would also check o2 wires and sensors. trace them all the way past the headers to make sure their not burnt. but if you get and maybe check the maf for debris caught on the screen

First you need to scan the car. Erase the codes and tell me what one comes up first. Multiple codes can be triggered by the original code. You definitely had a misfire if its flashing for sure. OBD 2 flashes when it see a misfire. Code p0301 is cyl. 1 p0302 cyl. 2 and so on...Send me the codes and I will tell you what they are if you are having trouble. Make sure and it sounds funny that all of your wires are locked onto the coils good and onto the plugs good. NGK tips sometime come off the top of the plugs, make sure its there. Then once you get the code(s) you can trace that cylinder by changing the wire with another cyl., then the plug, the the coil pack. The problem follows you got your culprit. If none of those work then its an injector. But don't be surprised if its a wire or a cracked insulator in the spark plug that u cant see. People sometimes crack #8 when the torque it in there. You need to do process of elimination. Peace

My MAF is desreen and all clean, Fire. I'll have a look to the O2 wires.

I'll be sending my car to my performance shop...We dont have autozone or advance auto around here up north, too bad they charged me 35$ for a scan.

For the wires and plugs, they are in there since 4000miles without any problems and I never touched em except for today when I changed the wires. But the car is still in trouble.

I'll get the exact codes and I'll send em to you Mike, thanks again.

Well, if you are talking about the car in your sig, then with your stage 3 heads and your tr cam you should have had a tune. Having said that, there should be no reason why your ses light should always be on. You can turn off any code you want.

Sounds like one of your front O2's (maybe both) have crapped out.

I know when my header burnt the o2 wire it would run fine untill I hit a small puddle the all hell would break loose, miss fire city, took me awhile to locate the culprit, but once I did and replaced it the car ran fine....
