Ram Twin Disc users step inside, I have a question
Well I just got my shim the sponsor forgot to throw in with the clutch/hydro order and my clutch has been in for a week. So far I really like the clutch but the clutch engages RIGHT off the floor AND it's a lil stiff to shift (go into another gear) while driving and almost impossible to shift (going into another gear) while WOT. this tells me it needs a shim big time.
Now, the shim I got is one thick ******...makes me a lil worried. with my spec 3 the shim is pretty thin and the clutch engagement was in the middle of the pedal travel, how will it be with a shim that is at LEAST twice as thick? it's .150" thick...is this the shim that Ram is supposed to include with the Twin Disc? if u have this disc and shim in where is ur clutch engaging thru the pedal travel?

A friend of mine had has a Ram DD, and he wanted to put in the shim for the same reasons you stated. But he didn't need it, he never adjusted the master cylinder. So we had to pull the trany for the 3rd time and take out the shim, it was too much.
His setup was , no shim, adjust the master, for correct pedal engaugement.
As far as i know , then Dual disks dont need a shim, just adjust the master cylinder

well it's funny you mention that because the adjustable master has nothing to do with the engagement of the clutch. if u think about it (and this is what RAM and the sponsor I bought the setup from told me) the pedal does not adjust how far in or out the shaft goes into or out of the master, it only adjust where the pedal is. so the clutch will engage in the exact same spot it did before any adjustment was made. u can only go so far in until the neutral switch stops working...the race track I go to checks to make sure it works so I cannot go in too far.
