Atermarket driveshaft ?

Atermarket driveshaft ?
Are there any negatives to this needed mod?
Mark Williams will make them for about 300.00 less than the ones I have found on line and I can't think of a more trusted name in the business.
What is the length of the driveshaft for an 05 6 speed (GTO of course) ?? I figure someone who has done this can measure the stock one for me.
Thanks

I've only read about one person actually breaking the stock unit. There is some slop due to the 2 piece design and rubber mount but they're pretty tough. The thing with a one piece design is the pinion angle will be off possibly increasing noise and vibration, that is why they are two piece from the factory.

As said you will get more noise with the 1 piece and there is a very good chance you will get vibration as well.
As far as breaking I have only read about one or two breaking their stock unit, but also have seen a few aftermarket 1 pieces break. The stock DS's have been proven to go 10's, I believe one person has even went 9's with the stock DS.
About the only thing you will get from the 1 piece is maybe less slop. Though at the same time I would think that would put more stress on the rear end and I would then be worried about breaking that. Mine is doing fine with 420RWHP on motor and a 175 wet shot, I run 275 BFG DR's daily as well. I would spend that money on something else. IMO

Here is the sequence of events....
Burnout...
Launch...pretty nice squat huh?
Results...
In defense of the driveshaft. The car did hop a little right before it snapped. The hop was probably just enough to give the shaft a little lateral bend making it easier to break.

Forgive a newb question but how is a sway bar alleviating wheel-hop? I thought it only helped on lateral transitions going thru curves? Not being a smart-***, just trying to figure this out.

I have a one piece alloy shaft on my car. I bought it from
"The drive line shop" down in the Carolinas.
Pros to this set up:
One piece
Rated to 800 rwhp
Rated to 8000 rpm
Drop in installation
Very quiet
VERY smooth
Quicker acceleration (NO CHIT!)
Cons.
almost 900 bucks
Tight squeeze (3.0" diameter)
Borla cat back required some "tweaking" to clear
Grease zerks are a pain to get to.
Beyond these minor issues, this thing is great and it's nice peace of mind.
You have to replace a bolt that holds one of the rear lap belts in place, but that is it in terms of "making" it fit.
The billet rear adapter is the jewel in this thing. No fussing with the rear diff at all. True 100% driveway swap.
Billet u Joints came with mine. Another plus in my book.
Good luck!
