Need recommondation for new clutch
Well Im going to purchase a new clutch and do the drill mod..
I have a LS7 clutch in now and Aluminum FW
I want a lightweight flywheel, but not as light as the aluminum one i had.
what woul dyou reccomend me?
I have 364 rwhop now, but soon will have 430+RWHP and even after that I plan on exceeding the 500whp mark.
so something that can sustain that kind of power, and in a DD car.
Also the car sees significant track time and dragstrip 6000rpm clutch dumps and has a moser 12 bolt 3.73s.
Im changing my clutch because it was recommeneded by Amer from T-56 rebuilds in connection with some trans issues I was having.
so any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Drivability is a concern but not as big of a concewrn as reliability/longevity.
I want the clutch to last over 25,000 miles even i racing conditions, etc as well as a daily driver and spirited driving.
if such a clutch exists and can withstand over 500+ RWHP this is what Im looking for.

I can tell you from experience that the 3+ holds well for those power levels and drives pretty damn good. What will kill it is excessive slipping of the clutch. During normal driving I take off with mine at around 1500 rpm with minimum slippage.

Okay. I launch the car at 6k rpm and do this on slicks. I would say 12 - 15 times a month. powershift therough all gears ( when drag racing) and roadrace it for a good 6 hours - 8 hours ( not continuous, with small breaks between) about 3 - 4 times a year.
its also a DD
now after that info. will the spec 3+ hold up well?
and why not a textralia?
I dont really wish to spend lots of money, but if I have to I will (text)

It will hold up to it, and im sure a tex will as well, and both are good daily drivers. The 3+ is under $550 and is around $800 with a billet flywheel. I dont remember what the tex runs but it is more expensive than the 3+.
I really cant say which one is better because there are too many variables with clutches such as longevitiy and ability to hold power. I will tell you this, both clutchs can hold a lot of power when used and installed properly.

Why not a Exedy? Your asking a lot out of a clutch and it seems your looking for value. If this is the case Textrilia is probably a good option.
If your making under 450 rwhp the LS7 is the best one to go with....

So now I talked to Amber from T56 rebuilds.
she is recommending a SPEC 3 with a shim. because the text and ls7 clutches, when they break in, seem to be not disengaging/engaging properly and thus causing the gear to not go in properly..
I must drive around with my car in 2nd gear for a good 30 - 40 miles and see if my blocker ring is glazed over. if it improves, then Im good. If it doesnt i need a clutch for sure. I should change my clutch anyways, just because Im dumping the car at 6000 rpm on slicks and I know the LS7 clutch doesnt like that.
lastly, I may need to disassemble my trans if it hasnt improved anyways and change my 2nd gear blocker ring. if all feels the same and/or check what else may be wrong.
which if it comes to that, really sucks, since I rebuilt it april 2007.
