I'm planning my 383" LT1 bracket race build for next season and I'm planning on a pretty serious N/A setup to hopefully race every other weekend. For consistency and E.T.'s I wana use a powerglide transmission, but I have only really seen f body guys use t350 and t400's.
If I run the 'glide, should i go with the 1.76 or 1.82 gear, and do I need the short or standard length? thanks guys

I would do a 1.76. You don't want a bracket car being violent on a launch. Get the standard length. The shorts are usually for dragsters. Also be sure to get the bracket brake in the trans as well.

Stock planetaries, I'd definitely go with the 1.76's, 1.82's are weak. If you're buying after market I'd go with a 1.80 planetary. I'd go with a pro brake, but that's just my opinion. I don't think you'll be in danger of hitting the tires too hard with a naturally aspirated 383.

thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction. im assuming most any bracket classes that allow th350 transmissions will allow 'glides. thanks again

Most bracket classes will allow any transmission, but as mentioned most go 2 or 3 speed for consistency. I run a TH400 in my Nova for the fact I still drive the car on the street and the first gear (2.4 something) will launch harder than the 'glide's 1.76. I will say that most 10 second and faster cars tend to lean towards a 'glide b/c of the previously mentioned launch characteristics. Just remember some bracket classes won't allow a transbrake, but you can always remove the wires to the solenoid. If using a TH400 or 'glide, I'd get a brake added.

1.80 straight cut & the pro brake. With a small block you will be set for life. Should be stronger than you will ever need.

1.80's with a pro brake is a proven combo.

I'de also call ATI as there in your backyard. A customers car of mine runs 4.20's in the 1/8th and is fully capable of 4.10's, and he runs an ATI powerglide. I run one in my car as well with 0 problems.
