Default Any reason to upgrade the H2O pump on a H/C car?

Hey guys-

I am getting ready to throw some heads and a cam on the TA and a friend of a friend is de-modding his T/A.. He said he'd cut me a deal on some of the parts left..

He has a water pump, buddy didn't know what kind, but he said he'd take $200 and my pump for his pump..

What I'm wondering is, is there any real reason to go to an upgraded water pump on a heads/cam car?

What kind of h20 pump is your friend selling off of his car?

If its a stocker, and yours isnt leaking, then there is no reason to swap.
If its an EWP, then heck yeah, pick it up. It'll free up some hp.

Only reason I swapped to an EWP was my stocker started leaking, so it was time for an upgrade.

Is your car a DD, if so, the electric water pumps are not rated to last quite as long as a mechanical pump.

Also, there is a race version and a street version of the Moroso pumps, one of which flows more GPH than the other, but I can't remember which flows more.

If its that cheap for an electric, id jump on it. They are pretty expensive, but not worth changing if its a stocker as mentioned before. How many miles your car have?

Yeh, I actually think he might take less..

I suggest you don't pass up on an elctric water pump for $200 or less. Go to one of the sponsor sites, and when you see how much they are brand new you might reconsider getting it.
