Default What Slicks Yall Runnin???

im going to break down and buy some 15" wheels and some 28" slicks. i want some opinions on what yall have bought and the sizes of wheels and tires. it looks like the 15x8 wheel with a 26x10 is the most popular. but i need 28s and i dont know if 10 is going to be wide enough. i really want at least a 12 inch wide slick.

how wide can i go without tubbing?

thanks!

400 RWHP and you can't get there on a drag radial? I was spraying 200 at my LS1 and running a 1.5x short time on a 255/50/16 ET Street Radial. IMHO, a 28 inch slick is WAY overkill for that little HP unless you have NO suspension mods.

Default slicks

I've been running ET Streets on 17" front ZO6 rims..think the tires are 11" wide or so...haven't been able to lower the pressure below 18 yet because of running Nitto Drag Radials on the front..need skinnies bad. I'm swerving all over the track. Last track day in Valdosta, I had to have no less than 22 lbs..couldn't get any traction. I did get one run on cold tires good for a 1.65 60'. In Gainsville, 18 lbs has given me 1.64 60' times, swerving not so bad there. 12-13 lbs is supposed to be the magic number.

What do you have for suspension? The only time I had problems with the ET Radials was when it was really cold outside, I could spin them at will on my LS1.

Now my car is TOTALLY different suspension wise so I can not comment on what will fit and such but I have 27x11.50 Hoosier QTPs, they are a DOT drag tire not radial or anything. Did a best of 1.614 with them on heavy 15x8 steel wheels, since got a deal on 15x10 forged MT wheels but have not gone chasing 60ft, times again with them.

My car is making more power than you are looking too because it makes somewhere around 400 through the A4, the converter hits HARD, not as hard as a stick but hard for a 3400 stall converter.

The mickey DR don't do anything for my car can't even hit the nitrous 100 ft out without them spinning. The MT 28x10.50 slicks hook a 200 shot pulling 1.48 60fts. Feels nice on the jug.

I pulled 1.701 60' with a bolt on LT1 on 275/50 15 M/T ET street radials. I've seen them hook on the street on a built LT1 with a massive shot on it. Should have no problem hooking them at the track at all. Hope this helps.

I think my combo is pretty similar to yours. I'm running a 26x10.5x15 ET street on a 15x8 Weld prostar. I'm pullin 1.60 60ft times and running 7.50's in the 1/8th.

Put some real suspension under your car instead of band-aiding the crap you have on there now. You would go faster on a radial.

There's no way in hell you spon a m/t radial on the dyno at your power level. thats your clutch slipping.

I could blow them 255/50/16's off at 60mph on the street..then again I'm somewhere around 480 at the wheels. I was suprised and was pretty much like damn..

Were talking about m/t dr's. And I could blow off 275 street tires at 60mph with 400rwhp its not that hard to do. And show me a 480rwhp dyno graph of your car.
